Tennessee collected $3.3 million in taxes from $340 million in sports wagers placed at sportsbooks in the state in December. The month was the third-highest for amount of bets placed since the market launched in November 2020: it follows October, which saw $375.3 million in handle; and November, at $365.7 million in bets. An ordinance was passed Thursday by the Chesapeake Beach Town Council in Maryland to allow the town to collect tax revenue on brick and mortar sports betting. This measure expands the Admission and Amusement Tax for the Town of Chesapeake Beach to include Sports Betting for Class A1, A2, Class B1 and B2 licenses. Ordinance O-21-7 was approved during a public hearing by Councilwoman Beaudin, seconded by Councilwoman Hartman.  This ordinance came to be after November 2020’s voting, where town residents voted against sports betting in Chesapeake Beach by 2 to 1 margin. New Yorkers have placed a record-setting $603 million in bets since the debut earlier this month on January 8 of the mobile sports wagering market, according to figures released by the state’s Gaming Commission on Friday.
