Betsson’s nomination committee proposes Board re-election including Johan Lundberg as Chair

Betting operator Betsson‘s nomination committee has proposed the re-election of all current members of the Board. As part of the proposal, suggested for the Annual General Meeting of shareholders scheduled on May 7, 2024, the committee recommended Johan Lundberg to be re-elected as Chair of the Board. Along with Lundberg, Eva de Falck, Peter Hamberg, Eva Leach, Pontus Lindwall, Louise Nylén and Tristan Sjöberg are proposed as members of the Board.

Another suggestion by the nomination committee is for the increment of Board fees by 10 percent. Board fees have remained unchanged since 2021. Pontus Lindwall, in his capacity as CEO of Betsson AB, will not be eligible for any Board fees.

The nomination committee consists of Jenny Rosberg, appointed by Hamberg Förvaltning AB; Ingela Kling, appointed by the Kling Family; and Mats Axell, appointed by Knutsson Holdings AB.

The announcement comes after the company recorded its seventh quarter of sequential growth in the third quarter ending September 30, 2023. The group’s total revenue reached €237.6 million ($250.4 million), a jump of 19% compared to the same period last year.

This growth was led by casino, which saw a 27% increase in revenue, contributing €172.1 million ($181.2 million), or 72% of the total. Another key factor was the growth in active customers, which increased by 17% to 1,237,238.

Sports betting revenue grew by only 2%, impacted by unfavorable results in European championships “negatively affected by many victories by favorites and games with many goals during the start of the European soccer leagues,” totaling €63.3 million ($66.7 million). Sports wagering accounted for 27% of the company’s turnover in Q3.
