On the verge of the resumption of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies’ activities, its president, Arthur Lira, is already preparing for the upcoming votes to be placed on the agenda of the plenary session, starting next week, when the parliamentary recess ends.

In a meeting in Brasilia, held last Tuesday with the rapporteur of the proposal to regulate gambling, Felipe Carreras (PSB-PE), Lira assured that the bill would be voted on as soon as the parliamentarians resume their duties, as stated in Lauro Jardim’s column in Globo Online.

An agreement at the end of last year guaranteed an urgent vote on the bill that regulates casinos, but its analysis was postponed to this year. The proposal faces the resistance of the evangelical bench, which has already requested President Jair Bolsonaro to veto the measure if it is approved by Congress.
