The final stage of the Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP) 2022 season shattered its own record with roughly $9 million distributed during 13 days at the WTC Sheraton, in São Paulo. The total entries in the 83 tournaments were 26.842, and the number of players was 3.872, meaning that, on average, every player disputed 6.93 tournaments. The event exceeded last year’s record when they amassed $7.8 million in the prize pool.

Deemed the biggest poker tournament in the Southern Hemisphere, the final stage of the 2022 season was a huge success for the Brazilian Series of Poker. The guaranteed prize pool was set at $3,7 million, more than doubling the initial numbers.

WTC Sheraton’s luxurious Golden Hall, in São Paulo, hosted the final stage of the Brazilian Series of Poker. The buy-ins varied from $58 to $9,6k – a record buy-in for a single tournament in BSOP – and the public was able to witness different poker variants from November 14 to November 26. Dennys Ramos was the BSOP Millions’ Main Event winner and he took home more than $289k for the trophy and the BSOP Main Event winner bracelet.

Players from 30 different countries – excluding Brazil – were present at the tables. Another important number is that 22.6% (876) of the players were at the BSOP for the first time. There was also a handful of Brazilian celebrities over the course of the event. “This goes to prove that BSOP Millions is the biggest and most important poker tournament in the Southern Hemisphere,” BSOP said in a press release.

BSOP starts the 2023 season in Bahamas, with a special tournament happening at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, before returning to WTC Sheraton for the season’s second stage in São Paulo. The next stops are at Brazil’s capital, Brasília, before another stop in the WTC Sheraton for the BSOP Winter Millions.

Mixing tourist destinations with Brazilian capitals, BSOP goes to Foz do Iguaçu in October for its fifth stage of the season, closing the 2023 year with the 2023 edition of the BSOP Millions. The news is that next year’s event will be played over 15 days – and promises to break even more records, according to its organizers.
