Chargers vs Raiders TNF Game Preview

These two divisional rivals have played against each other 122 times. The Raiders lead the all-time series with a 66-54-2 record. Additionally, the Raiders have won three games in a row. Furthermore, they have a 32-27-1 home record against the Chargers.

  • The Los Angeles Chargers (4-9) bounced back from their Week 13 shutout loss to the Patriots by defeating the Atlanta Falcons on a last second FG. The offense also got back on track after their worst performance of the season. Can they pull out a divisional upset on the road this Thursday night?
  • The Las Vegas Raiders (7-6) are coming off a pathetic performance in Week 14 as they lost to the Colts by the score of 44-27. It’s their third loss in four games and the team is barely hanging on to their Playoff life. Furthermore, they fired their defensive coordinator with the hopes they can improve on a short week.

Free TNF Sports Bet and Game Prediction: Raiders -3 (-125)

Last week, I was confident in the Colts beating the Raiders because they were the better team. This week, I feel good about the Raiders bouncing back and beating the Chargers in a must win game. I also like the Raiders to cover the spread as they win by more than a field goal.

In the first game between these two teams this season, the Raiders won 31 to 26. However, the Chargers had a shot to win the game, but failed to score a TD as time expired. Since that game, both teams have gone 2-3 in their last five contests.

Additionally, the Chargers got off to a fast start as they led 17-14 at halftime. The Raiders outscored LA 17 to 9 in the second half and held on to the victory.

This week, the Raiders are going to need to respond to the firing of their defensive coordinator otherwise this team will have no shot at making the Playoffs or winning this game.

The Raiders give up 262.5 passing yards, 128.1 rushing yards, 390.5 total yards, and 30.1 ppg. These are terrible numbers for a team trying to get into the postseason. It’s easy to see why they decided to fire the DC.

The offense is putting up decent numbers and they will have a good shot at continuing that trend on TNF because the Chargers give up 27.8ppg.

I expect Vegas to lean heavily on Josh Jacobs against a Chargers rush defense that allows 120 yards per game. This will set up the play action, which quarterback Derek Carr and the Raiders have had success at.

On the other side of the ball, it’s going to come down to the Raiders putting pressure on Chargers QB Justin Herbert. If they give the rookie too much time, he will pick them apart and kill all hope of making the Playoffs.

In their last three head to head meetings, the Raiders are 3-0 SU and 3-0 ATS. Las Vegas has also outscored the Chargers by an average of 27ppg to 22.33ppg over that stretch.

I believe this week’s matchup will be another close battle decided by one score, but I see the silver and black coming away with the win. They will be the more desperate team in Week 15 and they will respond to the embarrassing loss against the Colts.
