Tampa Bay Buccaneers Breakdown

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (14-5) finished 5th in the NFC and earned a Wild Card spot for the Playoffs. This was a team of two halves as they were inconsistent during the first half of the season due to all of the new players learning how to gel.

The second half of the season was an improvement for the Bucs as they closed out the season on a four game winning streak and really found their identity on both sides of the ball.

Offensively, the Bucs finished as one of the better units in the league: 7th in total yards (384.1ypg), 3rd in scoring (30.8ppg), and second in passing (289.1ypg).

They were led by “The Goat” Tom Brady who finished the season near the top of the league with 4,633 passing yards (3rd), 40 TDs (2nd), 12 INTs (28th), and a 72.6 QBR (9th).

Defensively, Tampa Bay improved greatly throughout the season. They had some ups and downs, but the defense pulled it together and have become a strength in the Playoffs.

On the season, Tampa’s defense was 7th in total yards allowed (327.1ypg), 8th in scoring (22.2ppg), 21st in pass yards allowed (246.6ypg), and 1st against the run (80.6ypg).

In the Playoffs, Tampa continued their offensive success averaging over 30ppg. However, it was their defense that stepped up to make this team a Super Bowl contender as they shut down the Packers and Saints along with tallying seven sacks and forcing seven turnovers in three Playoff games.

Chiefs Breakdown

The Kansas City Chiefs entered the 2020 season as the defending Super Bowl champions with a big target on their back. However, that didn’t stop them from finishing with the best record in the NFL at 14-2 and locking in home field advantage through the AFC Playoffs.

The Chiefs seemingly picked up where they left off in 2019 as they featured one of the best offenses in the NFL: 1st in total yards (415.8ypg), 1st in passing (303.4ypg), and 6th in scoring (29.6ppg).

This is a pass first team that’s pretty unstoppable. The Chiefs are led by the best player in the NFL – Patrick Mahomes who finished the season with 4,740 yards (2nd), 38 TDs (4th), 6 INTs (5th), and an 82.9 QBR (2nd). He’s an MVP candidate who continues to be the face of the league.

Defensively, the Chiefs are a middle of the pack unit as they finished 16th in yards allowed (236.2ypg), 11th in scoring (22.6ppg), 14th against the pass (236.2ypg), and 21st against the run (122.1ypg).

The defense did step up in the Playoffs as they only allowed 20.5ppg to the Browns and the Bills, which were two of the more explosive, high scoring offenses in the league. They also held the Bucs to just 24 points in their Week 12 matchup.

Who Will Win Super Bowl 55?

The Chiefs enter Super Bowl 55 as the betting favorite. Most Super Bowl betting sites have KC listed at -3 points with a moneyline of -160 to -170 and a team Over/Under of 30 points.

The Buccaneers are getting three points with a moneyline of +140 to +150 and a team Over/Under of 27 points.

It’s hard to argue against the Chiefs being the favorite. And, although the Buccaneers have the great Tom Brady, the Chiefs offense is just unstoppable.

With Patrick Mahomes as the conductor of this symphony, KC’s offense is an all-time masterpiece. There’s so much speed and talent that the Buccaneers will struggle to stop Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce.

Additionally, Sammy Watkins is healthy and will return along with Hardman emerging as a playmaker on offense in the postseason. Clyde Edwards-Helaire is a talented running back and the offensive line is playing well in the postseason.

Tampa Bay does not have the defense to slow down this Chiefs offense. The Buc’s offense will score enough to keep them in the game, but you have to like Mahomes and company in a shootout.

The Chiefs will win 34 to 31 in a thrilling Super Bowl matchup.

How Can I Watch the Super Bowl?
