icardo Menéndez, president of the Costa Rican Association of Casinos and director of Cirsa, told Radio Monumental that the new capacity limits imposed by local health authorities have forced them to suspend some of their workers.

After a seven-month shutdown and the suspension of 2,000 employees during that period, casinos in Costa Rica reopened their doors on October 8th. Although they will remain open, the new reduction in capacity represents another strike to the sector. That is why the association is calling for a review of the measure.

During the first two weeks of January — January 4-17— bars and casinos in Costa Rica will be operating at 25 % capacity. Menéndez believes that authorities must draw a line between casinos and bars and warns on the impact on the sector if this measure lasts for many months.
