DreamHack Open Fall 2020 Preview – Interesting Facts

DreamHack Open Fall 2020 betting adventure is not going to be easy, that’s for sure. But, let’s try to smooth some things out by talking about the event’s key facts!

For starters, DH Fall 2020 is set to feature sixteen teams and start on Thursday, October 15th. The last day of the event will be October 25th, just days before the start of BLAST Premier Fall.

As for the prize pool, these sixteen teams definitely have something to play for. If glory isn’t good enough on its own, there’s also $115,000 in the prize pool. To make matters even better, there’s more to DreamHack Open Fall 2020 betting than that! You see, the fact that the winning team gets a direct invitation to the IEM XV Global Challenge LAN event in December brings forth more complexity for our CS:GO betting endeavors.

One last thing – Frankie Ward fans rejoice! Your favorite CS:GO interviewer is back in action for DreamHack Open Fall 2020! DH made sure Frankie’s fans know she’s going to be a part of their event with a special tweet:

Are you excited to see @FrankieWard bring us some top notch content during #DHOpen Fall?!

We FRANKLY can’t wait! 😉 https://t.co/oDIk5Brtf5

Tournament Format

The format is pretty straightforward for a sixteen-team event. Everything kicks off with the group stage, featuring four groups with four teams in each. Double-elimination is the group stage system of choice, nicely poised with Bo3 matches all the way, from start to finish.

The DreamHack Open Fall 2020 betting campaign continues with a bracket following the group stage’s finish. We’re looking at another double-elimination system, packing twelve teams, three from each group. Group winners and second-place teams advance to the upper bracket. Third-place teams advance to the lower bracket where they’ll be in it to win it without any room for errors.

As for the playoffs, I already stated the fact that it’s another double-elimination bracket. What I haven’t stated is the nature of the matchups. You see, all playoffs matches are scheduled for Bo3 contests, including the grand finals. It’s going to be a bit different to watch a Bo3 finals now that we’re so used to seeing dynamic Bo5s for title runners.

Be that as it is, we’re going to turn our focus towards DreamHack Open Fall 2020 betting tips. More precisely, we’re going to turn our focus towards the key teams and group stage matchups. After all, that’s what CS:GO betting is going to be all about next week!

Group Stage Betting Overview

As always, we’re up for some class A CS:GO action right from the kickoff. With four tightly contested groups, the group stage is absolutely packed! Realistically speaking, there are at least six teams with solid chances of taking the title here. It’s going to be a dead race up until the very end, so let’s get down and dirty and check out all four groups in our DreamHack Open Fall 2020 betting preview!

Group A Predictions:

  • Team Vitality
  • Fnatic
  • OG
  • Mousesports

I think we can label group A as the group of death right off the bat! There’s no clear-cut winner here, to be honest. Each of the four teams could very easily end up at the top of the group. That said, there’s no clear outsider either – all four teams have had their ups and downs this season, and we can’t be sure how they’ll perform cometh the opening round of the group stage.

Team Vitality is currently the best-rated European team on the RMR rankings. Nothing surprising considering their three grand finals’ losses on ESL One Cologne, CS_summit 6, and BLAST Premier European finals. However, their ESL Pro League campaign was nothing to write home about, meaning they’ll definitely want more coming into this one.

Fnatic just got through to the IEM XV New York playoffs, although their group stage performance was a bit shaky. Their 2020 has been pretty bad, though, with the only title dating all the way back to April when they won ESL Pro League S11 Europe.

OG is another quality side here. They’ve topped their IEM XV New York group earlier this week, and will be looking to create an upset in the playoffs. How will they come into this event? Well, that all depends on how they finish IEM XV New York, I suppose.

As for Mousesports, Bymas has brought forth a dash of fresh air to the team, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this is his breakthrough campaign. It’ll be interesting to see what sort of performance this Mouz roster showcases in such a demanding group. There won’t be a lack of thrilling CS:GO action, that’s for sure!

Group A Winner –Team Vitality

Group B Predictions:

  • G2 Esports
  • Astralis
  • Heroic
  • Endpoint

Even though Group A is the group of death here, group B won’t lack quality matches either! With G2, Astralis, Heroic, and Endpoint onboard, we’re up for a screamer or two that’s for sure! Astralis are the main favorites coming into this one, but the rest of the group will give them proper headaches. Still, as far as our DreamHack Open Fall 2020 betting tips go, Astralis topping group B seems like a no-brainer!

As opposed to group A, we have a clear-cut outsider here. Endpoint will have an incredibly tough task just to get one win in this group. They don’t belong to the top of the European food chain and will surely struggle against the likes of Astralis and G2.

Talking about Astralis, they finally seem back on track. They should be in full flow with their good old starting roster, and that’s a scary thought in its own right. Their Danish brothers from Heroic have been looking great too. Their form did drop down slightly, but they’re still dangerous if they get things rolling early off.

G2 is the second European team according to RMR rankings, yet they haven’t been enjoying themselves lately. Their latest mishap came on the IEM XV New York event where they got eliminated right off the bat, following two group stage defeats. They’ll have to up their game if they want to come out of such a demanding group here…

Group C Predictions:

  • GODSENT
  • BIG
  • Faze Clan
  • sAw

Who’s the biggest outsider in group C? It’s sAw, I can tell you that right off the bat. I’m not pointing fingers out of the blue here, sAw is a tier-B side without too much experience on the top level. They might surprise GODSENT, but that’s about it as far as their DH Open Fall campaign should go. Even if they qualify for the lower bracket, I doubt they’ll advance to the next stage…

GODSENT is somewhat of an outsider too. Can farlig be the shining star and the turning point for this bleak GODSENT team? Well, he definitely has the raw talent… but it will be rather difficult in a group as tough as this one!

That said, which of the two remaining teams (BIG and Faze Clan) are going to top the group? Well, it doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things, because both group winners advance to the upper bracket. Sure, it does matter for the playoffs seeding, but that’s a complex story in its own right due to the chaotic nature of online gameplay.

I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again – don’t bet too much money on Faze Clan. They have an excellent roster, that’s a cold hard fact, but they’re still underperforming. If you can snatch a high-value bet on them against, let’s say, BIG, then be my guest… but not for a massive stake. Faze Clan is hot and cold all the time, meaning they could very easily get eliminated right off the bat… but they could also top the group without losing a single map. Yep, that’s the sad story of the superstar-packed Faze Clan roster!

Group C Winner –Faze Clan

Group D Predictions:

  • ENCE
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • Sprout
  • North

Moving on with our esports betting tips, let’s say a few words about group D before calling it a day! Even though there’s not a single top-tier team in this group, it’s still going to be a tight contest. How come? Well, all four teams are pretty competitive. They might not belong to the top of the food chain, but they definitely have the fire that’s needed to push them up a notch! All four teams will fancy their chances of going through, which is what makes group D that much more entertaining!

I’d like to point NiP out as the team that should have the easiest task of qualifying for the playoffs. There’s just no way they’re going to finish as dead last in this group, that’s just not them. I know they haven’t been at their best this year, but they should make the best out of this situation, that’s for sure!

I reckon we’ll see ENCE do well on DreamHack Open Fall 2020! They’re another solid team that hasn’t been able to reach people’s expectations in 2020. They’re moving in the right direction, though, making us think the best is yet to come.

From what I’ve seen thus far, Sprout and North will be battling for the third place in this group. Their head to head matchup will decide the final playoffs participant from group D, mark my words!

Group D Winner –Ninjas in Pyjamas

DreamHack Open Fall 2020 Betting Tips

We’re not done just yet! There’s still more valuable info we need to share with you here! For starters, let’s check out the most important betting options available for DreamHack Open Fall 2020:

DH Open Fall Specials

Even though we’re looking at a relatively small event here, DreamHack Open Fall 2020 betting opportunities are actually quite diverse. The quantity of specials is at an admirable level. Match-based stuff is in main focus here, with stuff like total maps, correct score, pistol round winners, heck… even player with the most kills bets are available on some bookies.

Outright Betting on DreamHack Open Fall 2020

Unfortunately, most CS:GO bookies don’t offer outright bets on this event. This is nothing surprising, it’s just another event that won’t be properly covered long-terms-wise. The reason is obvious – bookies don’t like taking risks on these online events since there are too many variables affecting the end results.

Even though outright betting on DreamHack Open Fall 2020 is not available on most CS:GO bookies, that won’t stop us from looking at the biggest dark horses! Assuming Astralis is the biggest favorite to take this one home, which teams stand out as their biggest contestants?

Well, if it wasn’t for such a terrible IEM XV New York campaign, I’d probably point Heroic out as the biggest contender. But, one of the most consistent teams in Europe can’t count on their consistency anymore… not after two atrocious matches earlier this week.

Who’s left, then?

  • Faze Clan? Oh, come on, this is no time for jokes!
  • BIG? Their era seems to be all gone… What about the French teams, G2 and Vitality? They’re still battling with consistency issues but they can be extremely dangerous if they start things off on the right foot.
  • ENCE and Mousesports could be fine surprises… especially the latter. If Bymas kicks this event off on the right foot, we might see Mousesports qualify for the playoffs from what’s probably the group of death on this event!

Wrapping Things Up

Despite DreamHack Open Fall 2020 betting campaign revolving around yet another online event, I’m sure it will yield good results, one way or another. We’ll still be counting the days till the start of the IEM Global Challenge. Remember, that’s going to be the first proper LAN event ever since the IEM XV WC spectacle in Katowice in late February. Until then, though, I guess betting on CS:GO online events will have to suffice!
