Spirit vs G2 Pick – G2 (+142)

This is it, boys and girls! Our G2 vs. Spirit predictions are early since I feel there’s plenty of value here. We’re finally at the business end of the contest. One of these two teams will venture to the BLAST Premier Spring Finals this June… but which one?

We’ve found our first FINALIST 👀@G2esports & @Team__Spirit are ready for one last battle to see who ends up in the Spring Finals 🔥

Tomorrow we see who joins them on the other side of the bracket!

G2 has the man advantage here. Their roster seems far superior when compared to the CIS side. However, Spirit is the favorite team coming into this one, all thanks to their excellent form this year. This is going to be a fiery contest, so let’s end the intro here and start with the dirty work!

G2 vs. Spirit Betting Predictions

With that out our way, let’s talk about G2 and Spirit. Right off the bat, people assume G2 is the heavy favorite here… but in fact, the situation couldn’t be more complicated. G2 might have a stronger roster on paper, but Team Spirit’s excellent form over the last few months sets them up as the favorites here.

This is further confirmed by all notable CSGO gambling sites! They all favor Spirit; most of them have ridiculously high odds for G2, making me believe we’ll have plenty of value to snatch here! Could this be one of those matches where bookies’ risk management and statistical analyses do more harm than good? Well, fingers crossed we get to the bottom of that by the end of our G2 vs. Spirit betting predictions!

Recent Results

Both teams have two straight wins on this event. But, is there anything of value for our G2 vs. Spirit picks that can be found if we travel back to previous events?

Well, if we do a direct comparison of the last few outings, we’ll immediately notice one thing – Team Spirit is in slightly better form. The CIS side finished the top four on all four events they’ve competed on in 2021. They won two of them, DH Open January and Winstrike CIS Cup Spring.

G2, on the other hand, had a disastrous start to 2021! Niko and the boys just can’t seem to find proper form and it’s reflecting on their results. But, G2’s snowball potential is much higher than that of Team Spirit. With two consecutive wins to their tally, the snowball potential for G2 is more than plausible here!

Map Depth

The map pool seems to be in favor of Team Spirit. Their superb results over the last few months helped them pump up stats across all maps except Vertigo, their permaban. Mir and the boys do best on Dust 2 where they have a 90% win rate across ten last outings. Nuke is a good example of their excellent team cohesion too. Those are the two maps Spirit will hope to get away with here.

G2 will try to force Inferno! That’s been their best map this year, though we have to admit Spirit are pretty good on it as well. Even though the map pool stats pull heavily in favor of the CIS side, you have to understand that they don’t paint the full picture. Raw stats don’t mean much since most of their opponents were outside of the top 20, whereas G2 only plays against such teams.

Individual Qualities

I just have to side with G2 here because, once again, they have a better snowball potential. Of course, they do – they have NiKo, nexa, and huNter. That’s not to say Team Spirit’s roster is inferior. On the contrary, their teamwork is through the roof. Team cohesion is what they’re famous for, though the individual brilliance of mir is not to be taken for granted either.

In the end, I’m afraid it will come down to the map choices. Some favor Spirit, some favor G2. The third map ought to decide this one, but it’s not guaranteed… especially if G2 starts showing off their pallet of excellent right away.

I’m afraid that brings us to the end of this piece. Of course, we have to follow the tradition and emphasize the picks. Here comes nothing:

There’s something in the way G2 have been playing on this event. It’s a newly found spark that ought to push them through to the BLAST Premier Spring Finals. I’m not saying they’re outright brilliant; all I’m saying is that they are playing with an extra bit of effort.

In times of struggle (and we’ve witnessed plenty of those already), they were able to regroup and quickly deploy a different approach which helped them reach this far into the bracket. NiKo and the boys know how important this match is, and I for one don’t think they’ll crumble under pressure this time!

Of course, you can take things up a notch and invest in G2 to win 2:0 at +340 or 2:1 at +380… but they don’t have more value than the match-winner. Choose your own poison, I guess!
