The latest edition of the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) has now come to an end. The major industry event returned to Las Vegas for a week of fully in-person education and networking action, gathering nearly 25,000 visitors at The Venetian Expo.

The premier gaming event, presented by the American Gaming Association (AGA), highlighted “the casino gaming industry’s strength and dynamic future,” according to organizer RX. It also marked a return to form for G2E, with attendance nearly doubling G2E 2021’s 13,000, and just shy of 2019’s total of about 27,000.

“Our industry is experiencing record-setting growth because of the innovation and technology that is fueling our world-class entertainment offerings,” said AGA President and CEO Bill Miller. “After leading the return of tradeshows to Las Vegas last year, G2E 2022’s pre-pandemic atmosphere is a milestone for our industry and a testament to our collective excitement around gaming’s future.”

Global gaming professionals – including suppliers, operators and media – gathered at The Venetian Expo for four days (Monday-Thursday) of product exhibitions and debuts, networking events, keynote and education sessions. Yogonet covered these events in-depth throughout the week, highlighting the key developments of each expo day.

This year’s show featured more than 350 exhibitors and participating companies spread across 252,000 square feet, up 42% compared to 2021. As for education, G2E featured six dynamic keynote conversations and more than 80 education sessions “on the latest industry trends and ideas.”

“It was fantastic to bring the full global gaming community back together to reconnect and drive business,” said Korbi Carrison, G2E’s event vice president. “The energy and excitement at this year’s show announced that gaming is all the way back and made it the most impactful G2E yet.”

As for main takeaways from the expo, in addition to the latest technology at display on the numerous event’s booths, executives and industry stakeholders tackled a wide array of topics, from Bill Miller calling on to ramp up efforts against illegal gambling to Circa’s Derek Stevens and Wynn Resorts’ Craig Billings discussing the future of the land-based casino segment amid the current uncertain economic landscape.

Moreover, the event put sports betting and online gaming under the spotlight through a number of keynote sessions that featured executives from well-known brands such as DraftKings, FanDuel and Barstool. Attendees present at these conversations were able to learn more about what is next for the booming vertical, including stakeholders’ opinion that sports betting most likely won’t be legalized in California this year.

G2E 2023 is set to return to Las Vegas on October 9-12 (Education: October 9-12 | Expo Hall: October 10-12), 2023 at The Venetian Expo. The expo’s 2022 edition came to an end on Thursday with a last chance to learn about the latest in gaming at the trade show floor from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Closing special activities included Sip & Social, Global Gaming Women’s rebranded annual networking event; and the #G2E2022 Photo Wall at the event’s Networking Lounge, which featured two specially-created art pieces.
