Hard Rock International has confirmed plans to open its rebranded The Mirage Hotel & Casino Las Vegas hotel in 2025. MGM Resorts had reached an agreement to sell the operations of the property to Hard Rock for $1.075 billion in cash in December, which is expected to close later this year and would see the first tribal operator on the Las Vegas Strip.

The projection for 2025 was included in an official press release issued this week about the results of a guest satisfaction study for 2022: “Looking ahead, Hard Rock also recently announced property expansion in Las Vegas, set to open in 2025, and Athens in 2026.”

Under the terms of the agreement, MGM Resorts will retain The Mirage name and brand, licensing it to Hard Rock royalty-free for a maximum period of three years while it finalizes its plans to rebrand the property. HRI, which is owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, said it plans to rebrand The Mirage and also build a new guitar-shaped hotel on the property.

“We are honored to welcome The Mirage’s 3,500 team members to the Hard Rock family,” Jim Allen, Chairman of Hard Rock International, stated in December. “When complete, Hard Rock Las Vegas will be a fully integrated resort welcoming meetings, groups, tourists and casino guests from around the world to its nearly 80 acre center-Strip location.”

There was a Hard Rock Hotel at the corner of Harmon Avenue and Paradise Road, just east of the Strip, until early 2020. However, Hard Rock International did not own or have any involvement in managing that casino-hotel, which has since been rebranded as Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, where Connecticut-based Mohegan Sun operates the casino. Back in April, Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas reopened after more than two years in the dark, and the California-based San Manuel Band of Mission Indians became the first tribe to own a casino in Las Vegas.

Temporary full-service casino “Bristol Casino – Future Home of Hard Rock” celebrated Friday its grand opening, Virginia’s first casino, ahead of the full property opening in 2024.

Last month, Hard Rock International and ATHEX-listed conglomerate GEK Terna Group held a special event signaling the official start of their partnership for the construction and operation of an integrated resort and casino in Athens, to open in 2026.
