  • Jake Paul challenged former UFC champion Conor McGregor to a boxing match
  • Paul claims to have sent McGregor a $50 million contract to set up the fight
  • McGregor has yet to respond to the offer

Jake Paul is a confident man these days. Just a couple of weeks after his infamous knockout of former NBA guard Nate Robinson, the YouTube star is already searching to find his next opponent. While his brother, Logan, is reportedly set to enter the ring against Floyd Mayweather early next year, Jake doesn’t yet have another fight on his schedule.

If his latest antics on social media are any indication, though, Paul has his sights set rather high. In a profanity-laced video posted to social media on Monday, Paul called out former UFC champion Conor McGregor. In the video, Paul claims to have sent McGregor and his representatives a contract worth $50 million to set up a boxing match. If Paul’s comments are any indication, McGregor has yet to respond to the offer.

No Reply From ‘The Notorious’

The YouTube star says that he believes McGregor hasn’t replied to the offer because the ex-UFC champion is worried about losing. McGregor has only boxed in a professional capacity once in the past. He lost that fight at the hands of Mayweather back in 2017.

Paul also called out UFC president Dana White, urging him to sign the contract to help set up the fight. When asked about Paul’s rather brash comments, White replied,

“I’m thinking of letting Amanda Nunes knock his ass out.”

Nunes, of course, is the reigning champion in both women’s bantamweight and featherweight. She is just the third UFC fighter ever to hold two titles in two divisions at the same time. The others are McGregor and Daniel Cormier.

Naturally, White’s retort was likely in jest. It remains to be seen whether McGregor will ultimately agree to return to the ring to fight Paul, who has won each of his first two pay-per-view matches over Robinson and fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib. Paul’s win over AnEsonGib happend in the first round, while he was able to knock out Robinson in the second round.

Paul’s win over Robinson was an undercard bout as a part of last month’s highly-anticipated clash between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr.

McGregor’s Limited Boxing Experience

While McGregor ultimately came up short in his quest to become the first fighter to defeat Mayweather, the Irish UFC star did put up an impressive showing. McGregor lasted all the way until the 10th round, when he was beaten via TKO.

McGregor has a career 22-4-0 record in UFC competition with 19 knockout wins on his resume. “The Notorious” is slated to end his brief retirement from the octagon next month when he’ll fight take on Dustin Poirier in Las Vegas at UFC 257.

Mayweather will take on Logan Paul in a pay-per-view exhibition boxing match on February 20 of next year. The 43-year-old has not set foot in the ring in a professional capacity since his aforementioned triumph over McGregor over three years ago.
