Conor McGregor isn’t buying into his callouts, at least not yet. So Jake Paul is moving on, for now.

Triller LLC owner Ryan Kavanaugh announced that Paul will be headlining an April 17th event of Snoop Dogg’s Fight Club at a still to be named location. According to Kavanaugh, Paul will be facing a professional fighter in the event which will be streamed on PPV via the social video platform.

The event will feature three undercard fights, several musical performances, and special guest commentators. The show’s format will be closely similar to last November’s Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr. event.

In a statement, Jake Paul Said:

“Hate me or love me, you can’t stop me. April 17, I headline a global PPV event and I am getting my third knock-out in a row. I look to prove to the world that I am and I will remain one of the biggest names in this sport. Thank you to Triller, Bobby, Ryan, and Snoop for allowing me to showcase my talent to the world. Given their leadership, I know the visuals, performances, and production value on this show will be unlike anything anyone has seen. Together, we will continue to break records.”

Third Knockout in a Row?

Jake Paul burst into superstardom when he sensationally knocked out former NBA slam dunk king Nate Robinson in the undercard of Tyson vs Jones. The 24-year old video creator and YouTube star didn’t just stop the former NBA star on his tracks, he left Nate unconscious. That victory was Paul’s second straight, with both wins coming by way of knockout.

Paul entered the world of boxing in 2018 when he fought in a white-collar boxing match against social media star Deji. The two fought in the undercard of an event headlined by their brothers Logan Paul and KSI. KSI defeated Logan Paul but Jake Paul won his fight via 5th round TKO after Deji’s corner threw in the towel.

On January 30, 202, Jake Paul made his professional boxing debut against fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib. Paul defeated Gib via TKO at the 2:18 mark of the first round. 10 months later, he knocked out Robinson at the 1:24 mark of round two to improve his record to 2-0 with 2 knockouts.

Looking for a McGregor Bout

Since his win over Robinson, Paul has gone on to call out several personalities, mostly professional MMA fighters. Most notably, he called out Dillon Danis, Ben Askren, and Conor McGregor. For a while, it looked like he was going to face Askren after Funky Ben accepted his challenge. That didn’t materialize and Paul has spent the previous months looking for a McGregor bout.

Paul went on to claim that he had a financial backer that was willing to pay McGregor $50M for a Jake Paul fight. UFC President Dana White instead offered women’s double-champion Amanda Nunes to Paul but the latter wasn’t interested in fighting the Lioness. Since then, Jake Paul has been creative in his McGregor call outs. Most recently, he flew a banner that read “Conor McGregor is scared of Jake Paul” over a beach.

Conor Not Shutting Down the Idea

McGregor is scheduled to fight Dustin Poirier in the main event of UFC 257 this weekend. And if the oddsmakers at BetOnline are correct, the -320 betting favorite will move on with a victory. The Notorious is expected to fight boxing legend Manny Pacquiao next in an exhibition boxing bout. After that, McGregor’s schedule looks to be vacant, and that’s where Jake Paul may come in.

In a recent interview, McGregor said that fighting Jake Paul isn’t in his immediate plans. However, the Irishman didn’t dismiss that possibility, saying that “we’ll see what happens”. With McGregor not shutting down the idea of fighting Jake Paul, the Notorious might eventually be open to the fight. But first things first.

Triller doesn’t have a name yet for Paul’s next opponent but you can be sure that Triller won’t put its investment in harm’s way. More than knocking out another opponent, Jake Paul must prove that he can carry a PPV card by himself. The Tyson vs Jones event was a PPV hit but that was mainly because of Iron Mike. If Jake Paul proved that he is a PPV stud, then Conor McGregor might lend him his Irish ears.
