Plans for a new casino in South Mississippi are still on with Rock & Brews, a concept inspired and backed by KISS members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. The construction project is still in motion in the old Margaritaville Casino site in Biloxi -which has been closed since 2014 -, despite the property being up for sale.

The former Margaritaville Casino building on Fifth Street was originally expected to undergo a $200 million transformation to have the Rock & Brews project up and running in the site. However, it was listed earlier this month at $15.9 million through Southeast Commercial Real Estate.

Even though Rock & Brews developer Tom Moore said the owner of the land recently changed realtor, his group still has first right of refusal on any property deal.

Moore also stated he is continuing to move forward with the project of bringing the KISS-themed casino and entertainment venue to South Mississippi, and stated that the owner “has always had someone that’s had the property listed, so I still feel like we’re in a good place”, WLOX reported.

The construction on the rock-themed casino was first announced in 2019, and was expected to begin in March 2020 with a groundbreaking, which Simmons and Stanley were planning to attend. Plans fell through due to the COVID-19 outbreak at a global scale.

In December last year, Rock & Brews said it will open its first-ever Casino & Restaurant in Braman, Oklahoma this Spring.

Initial plans for the 40,000 square foot casino in Biloxi include a 3,000 seat concert venue, a world tour food hall and a 300-room hotel. Mississippi Gaming Commission adopted new regulations since the casino closed that would require a 300-room hotel and other amenities for it to return as a casino.
