n May 10, the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) provided Magic Services with a twenty-day time period within which it had the right to show cause as to why the MGA should not proceed with the enforcement of its license cancellation measure in accordance with regulation 9 of the Gaming Compliance and Enforcement Regulations. However, Magic Services failed to make its submission within the stipulated time period.

“In light of the above, the Authority is hereby notifying the Authorised Person that pursuant to the Notice, the Authorisation bearing the number ‘MGA/B2C/149/2007’ shall be canceled in terms of the Regulations”, the MGA quoted from the breach regulations on a notice Friday.

Magic Services must now settle all outstanding fees that are due to the MGA, amounting to a total of €71,035.54, within a period of five working days from the date of publication of the cancellation of authorisation. The gaming company is directed to comply with that and other actions by not later than seven days from June 25.

The MGA explained that Magic Services failed to pay to the Authority the annual licence fee covering the period between 01 August 2020 to 31 July 2021, and the relevant compliance contribution fees pertaining to the licence numbered MGA/B2C/149/2007.

The MGA also stated that this decision may be subject to an appeal in terms of article 43 of the Gaming Act. The company may exercise its right to show cause why the MGA should not proceed with the imposition of the enforcement measure within 20 days starting June 25.
