Maryland casinos set new revenue record in July 2021

aryland’s 6 casinos combined have reported a single-month record in gaming revenue of $180,145,516 during July. This is the third time in 5 months that the state’s casinos have set a new revenue record. 

Last month’s total represents an increase of 28.7% ($40.2 million) on a year-over-year comparison. Casinos were limited to 50% capacity in July 2020, which was the first full month that the properties were open after March 16’s closure due to COVID-19.

The gambling revenue totals for July, compared to the same period last year, are:

MGM National Harbor (2,170 slot machines, 200 table games) — $72.3 million,  an increase of 38.2% 

Live! Casino & Hotel (3,731 slot machines, 188 table games) — $62.9 million, an increase of 22.1% 

Horseshoe Casino (1,515 slot machines, 137 table games) — $19.3 million, an increase of 22.4%

Ocean Downs Casino (860 slot machines, 18 table games) — $10.4 million, a 35.2% increase 

Hollywood Casino (761 slot machines, 16 table games) — $8.7 million, 25.3% increase 

Rocky Gap Casino (657 slot machines, 18 table games) — $6.3 million, an increase of 14.8% 

Earlier this year, Maryland’s casinos set a new single-month record of $169.1 million in March, which was surpassed in May, when revenue totaled $172.3 million.

Casino gambling contributions to the state in July totaled $77,338,403, an increase of 33.4% compared to July 2020.

Contributions to the Education Trust Fund in July 2021 were $56.2, an increase of 29.4%. Casino revenues also support the communities and jurisdictions where the casinos are located, Maryland’s horse racing industry, and small, minority- and women-owned businesses.
