ayor Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo explained that, from November 9th to 15th, Mexico City will remain in the “orange” phase of the authorities’ “traffic light” system created to tackle the ongoing pandemic, so she has called on citizens to comply with the health and safety requirements against COVID-19 since there has been a sustained upsurge in the number of hospitalizations in the city.

Sheinbaum Pardo said the reduction in the operating hours of casinos, restaurants, and gyms aims to lower the risk of spreading the virus in facilities were considerable numbers of people gather together for a relatively long time, and to reduce the number of social gatherings in which people tend to be together for a long time without masks.

During the next 15 days, casinos will have to close their doors at 10 p.m. Their bars will remain close as well. The number of people allowed at hotel events will be limited to 10 in closed venues and 25 in open spaces. The use of face coverings is mandatory, among other health and safety measures that were imposed.

The mayor also reminded citizens that concerts and massive gatherings are still not allowed, as well as sporting events with public, conventions, and conferences.
