On Saturday, December 26th, the Miami Dolphins travel to Nevada to take on the Las Vegas Raiders in what could be a Playoff eliminator for both teams.
If the Raiders lose, they’re eliminated from the Playoffs. If the Dolphins lose, they still have a small shot at making it.

These two AFC teams have played against each other 39 times and it’s the Raiders that lead the head to head series with an all-time record of 20-18-1. Yet, it’s Miami that has owned the series since the 90’s having won 14 of the last 18 meetings.

The Las Vegas Raiders are free falling and they have nobody to blame but themselves. They tried to blame it on their defensive coordinator who they fired before Week 15, but that didn’t matter. The Raiders defense gave up 30 points to the Chargers and lost in OT.
This defense is atrocious and it’s the reason why they will lose this weekend as well. The Raiders give up 30.1ppg, 391.9 total ypg, 266.1 passing ypg, and 125.8 rushing ypg. That bodes well for a Dolphins offense that is picking up some momentum over the last few weeks.
Miami has suffered from key injuries on offense, but they’re slowly getting healthy again. They’re scoring 25.1ppg and played the Chiefs tough two weeks ago in a 33 to 27 losing effort.
Miami has won three of their last four games and have a great shot at making the Playoffs. All they need to do is win their two games and they are in.

I fully expect the Dolphins to win this game partly because they’re the better team in this matchup and partly because they have owned the Raiders in recent history.
Miami is 8-2 SU in the last 10 head to head meetings and 5-0-1 ATS in their last six games against Las Vegas. Furthermore, they are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games and 4-1 ATS as the favorite this season.
The Raiders are 1-4 ATS in their last five games and 0-5 ATS in their last five AFC East games. They’re also 2-7 SU in their last nine December games and 3-7 SU in the last quarter of the season.
I fully expect this Miami Dolphins defense to stifle the Raiders this weekend as they’re allowing just 18.4ppg on the season. They might allow Las Vegas to gain yards in-between the 20s, but I don’t expect the Raiders to score too many TDs on Saturday.
I love the spread under a FG as Miami will beat the Raiders by at least three points and put themselves one step closer to making the postseason. The Raiders will need to really address this defense in the offseason.
