Mirage Volcano Returns to the Strip

 February 29, 2024

We all know that the days of the Mirage Volcano attraction are numbered. Still, it will be good when they turn the show back on tomorrow, Friday March 1st. But no one knows for certain how much longer we have to enjoy it.

According to the resort, the famous Strip attraction will operate nightly from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. with shows on the hour. The volcano was shut down for the Las Vegas Grand Prix in November, and again in February while Paramount used the space for the interactive Paramount Mountain during Super Bowl week.

Hard Rock International now owns and operators of the Mirage, but they have plans to tear down the Mirage Volcano and build a 660-foot tall guitar-shaped hotel tower where it currently stands. All part of the transformation of the resort into the Hard Rock.

Corporate representatives have yet to set a date for the last Mirage Volcano show. Perhaps they don’t know themselves, or perhaps they are having some second thoughts about tearing down such a beloved attraction that so many potential customers come to see.

Hard Rock purchased The Mirage from MGM Resorts back in late 2021, with the sale being finalized in January of last year. The company shelled out over $1 billion for the property, which Steve Wynn originally constructed for $700 million in late 1989.
