Mohegan has announced the appointment of Joe Soper as Vice President of Sports & Entertainment, a role in which he will oversee strategy and programming for Mohegan Sun’s entertainment offerings.
Soper will also collaborate across the company’s broader portfolio, which includes Mohegan Pennsylvania in Northeast Pennsylvania, as well as Fallsview Casino Resort and Casino Niagara in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.
Mohegan Sun hosts more than 120 concerts and sporting events each year at its 10,000-seat arena. The venue recently marked its 25th anniversary with the announcement of two special performances by legendary rock band Metallica.
Soper is returning to Mohegan after his tenure on the Mohegan Tribal Council, where he has served as Corresponding Secretary since 2019, handling official communications and distributing updates to Tribal members.
Before joining the Tribal Council, he worked at Mohegan Sun for 15 years, starting as a Senior Financial Analyst and later becoming Director of Sports & Entertainment. In that role, he played a key part in expanding Mohegan Sun Arena into a leading live entertainment venue and supported broader programming and development efforts across the company’s properties.
“Joe Soper is a proven leader with invaluable insight and expertise not only as it applies to Mohegan Sun’s Sports & Entertainment, but as it applies throughout our entire enterprise, and we’re thrilled to welcome him back to lead one of the most dynamic areas of our business,” said David Martinelli, CMO of Mohegan. “His dedication and experience will prove integral to the continued momentum in elevating the future of live entertainment at Mohegan Sun.”
In his new role, Soper will guide the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of Mohegan Sun’s entertainment division. He will also focus on strengthening partnerships with major industry players, including leading promoters, music agencies, and sports organizations, to attract top-tier talent and secure exclusive performances.
Soper attended Western New England University and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in finance.
