NFL Prop Bets: Will Wilson, Carr, Wentz or Watson Get Traded?

nfl-prop-bets:-will-wilson,-carr,-wentz-or-watson-get-traded?

In addition to the exciting free agency period that starts on March 17th, where numerous star players could be on the move, there’s a growing buzz that more franchise quarterbacks could be traded this offseason.

The first domino fell when Matthew Stafford was traded from the Lions to the Rams for Jared Goff and a handful of draft picks. It sent a signal to the league that winning now was top priority for Playoff caliber teams.

Many NFL insiders are reporting that more dominoes could fall by next month as we see other franchise quarterbacks switching teams in what would be an epic offseason.

Let’s huddle up and examine the latest prop bets on these rumored QBs that could be on the move. NFL betting odds are courtesy of online betting sites like Bovada, BetOnline and MyBookie:

Could Russell Wilson Cook Somewhere Else in 2021?

  • Seattle Seahawks (-1100)
  • Las Vegas Raiders (+700)
  • Dallas Cowboys (+1500)
  • Jacksonville Jaguars (+1600)
  • Washington Football Team (+1800)

Seattle won the NFC West this past season and optimism was flowing in the great Northwest as Russ was cooking and the Seahawks seemed poised to make a deep run in the postseason.

Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse when Seattle was upset by the Rams as their offensive line had no answers for LA’s defensive schemes. But, that’s not all.

Following the Super Bowl, Russell Wilson made comments that created a frenzy among the media when the normally quiet eight-time Pro Bowler expressed frustrations about his team after watching the Super Bowl game between the Bucs and Chiefs:

“The reality is that I think it’s frustrating being there and watching the game and sitting there… I’ve definitely been hit – I’ve been sacked almost 400 times (over his career). We got to get better. I got to find ways to get better, too. Just continue to try and find that. As we continue to go along the process and I think about my career and what I want to be able to do, it always starts up front, offensively and defensively. It always does. I’m grateful for the time I’ve been able to put in every day to the process.”

After Wilson aired his frustrations, so called pundits began questioning Wilson’s future with the team and started speculating on the possibility that he could be traded.

A few days after the initial comments, another report came out that Wilson isn’t happy with head coach Peter Carroll. Russ loves his teammates, but is frustrated with Carroll and an offense that several players feel is outdated.

Following the Playoff loss, Seattle fired their offensive coordinator and hired Rams passing coordinator Shane Waldron to be their new OC. Carroll praised Waldron for his creativity on offense and that his vision will get the most out of the roster.

Yet, that wasn’t enough to ease Wilson’s frustrations. The reality is that Seattle really needs to improve their offensive line. This has been an issue for the last few years and nothing has been done to make progress along the o-line.

Heading into the 2021 Free Agency period, the Seahawks actually have gotten worse on the offensive line with players being cut and very little depth.

Before anyone dismisses Wilson’s grievances, he has been sacked 394 times in 114 regular season games, which is the most by any QB in their first nine seasons since 1970.

He was sacked 47 times last season and five times in the Playoff loss to the Rams. That’s an average of more than four sacks per game compared to the league average of 2.6 sacks per game.

With very little salary cap space, a new offensive scheme, no elite offensive linemen, and a frustrated QB, this offseason could really be a tumultuous one for the Seattle Seahawks. But, could they really trade Wilson?

Will Seattle Really Trade Russell Wilson?

Other NFL teams have inquired into the possibility of Wilson being traded. Currently, he has three years and $69 million dollars left on his contract.

The team would be hit with a $39 million dollar dead cap space if they trade Wilson this year. Lastly, Wilson has a no trade clause as well.

The reality is that Seattle’s chances of trading Wilson are zero. Instead, they need to wake up and improve the offensive line. The time for bargain buys in Free Agency are over.

Seattle has talented playmakers all over the offensive side of the ball, but can’t maximize their potential due to an inconsistent offensive line that has plagued this team for the last three years.

For this prop bet, there’s only one betting option and that is for Wilson to remain in Seattle.

Will the Raiders Finally Move on From Carr?

  • Las Vegas Raiders (-375)
  • Indianapolis Colts (+700)
  • New England Patriots (+750)
  • Miami Dolphins (+900)
  • Denver Broncos (+950)

Another offseason and another rumor that Raiders QB Derek Carr could be on the move. This has been the case for the last three years and it’s no surprise that it’s popped up again.

Carr has a $22.1 million dollar cap hit in 2021, which is at least $10 million below the top paid QBs in the league.

Furthermore, he’s coming off a solid year where he threw for over 4,100 yards and a 101.4 passer rating. He also threw 27 TDs to just 9 INTs and did this with no legitimate #1 wide receiver.

The Las Vegas Raiders finished 8-8, but were in contention for a Wild Card spot up until the final weeks of the season.

With that said, reports have come out that multiple teams have contacted the Raiders to gauge the availability of Carr as it was rumored that Derek could be had for two first round draft picks.

As of now, the Raiders have shot down all inquiries. In fact, it’s more likely that they trade backup QB Marcus Mariota rather than Carr.

Carr wasn’t the problem in 2020. It was the atrocious defense and not enough passing weapons. The team is rumored to be heavily interested in WR JuJu Smith-Schuster as he’s expected to leave the Steelers as a Free Agent.

If Las Vegas can get JuJu, put together another solid draft class, and revamp the defense, they could finish with a winning record and possibly make the postseason.

For this prop bet, take the Raiders betting option as it doesn’t seem like the team is eager to move on from Carr this offseason.

Can Watson Call His Number in a Hail Mary Trade?

  • Houston Texans (+200)
  • Miami Dolphins (+325)
  • New York Jets (+350)
  • Carolina Panthers (+400)
  • San Francisco 49ers (+500)

Is there anyone in the NFL more frustrated than Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson?

It started last offseason when the Texans traded DeAndre Hopkins for RB David Johnson and a few draft picks. It was one of the worst trades in recent memory as Houston gave up one of the best receivers in the league for a bag of chips and a soda.

During the season, the team fired Bill O’Brien who was the head coach and GM that made that trade. Following the season, the front office underwent changes as they hired Nick Cesario which infuriated Watson further.

The hiring of new head coach David Culley did nothing to relieve the pressure mounting from Watson’s camp. Then last week, Houston released JJ Watt, which signaled that they’re in rebuilding mode and will most likely let WR Will Fuller walk in Free Agency rather than pay him the going rate.

Watson has already requested to be traded and has even been seen hanging out with players from the Miami Dolphins who many pundits believe could be the team that Deshaun wants to be traded to.

With that said, there are teams hovering around the Texans like vultures circling a carcass. One of those teams is the Denver Broncos. However, they’re not even listed on this prop bet.

The Texans are stating that Watson isn’t available for trade, but the QB and his representatives are prepared to sit out if Houston doesn’t trade him.

Of the teams available for this prop bet, I like the 49ers the most. They could trade first round picks and QB Jimmy G. which would give the Texans a reliable quarterback until they can get a young, franchise player in there.

The Dolphins are the trending choice due to Watson’s affiliation with some players and the rumor that he wants to go to Miami.

With that said, I am taking the 49ers for this prop bet. I like the value and I also like the package they could put together for Watson. In addition to Jimmy G. and the first round picks, the 49ers also have some second and third round picks this year that could sweeten the deal.

Houston would make a franchise altering mistake if they don’t trade Watson this offseason. Then again, can the situation can’t get any worse?

Where Will Carson Wentz Play Game 1 of 2021 NFL Season?

  • Chicago Bears (+150)
  • Indianapolis Colts (+160)
  • Washington Football Team (+900)
  • Denver Broncos (+950)
  • Houston Texans (+1400)
  • Carolina Panthers (+1500)
  • New England Patriots (+1700)
  • Las Vegas Raiders (+1800)
  • San Francisco 49ers (+2200)
  • Dallas Cowboys (+3500)
  • New York Jets (+3500)

Of all the players listed in this article, Carson Wentz is the one most likely to be traded. In fact, if you look at the available betting options for this prop bet, you don’t even see the Eagles listed. That’s how confident NFL betting sites and pundits are that Wentz will be traded.

Things went downhill this year for Wentz when he was benched for Jalen Hurts despite it not all being the QB’s fault. The team was riddled with injuries on the offense and they never were able to fulfill their full potential.

RE: Carson Wentz trade.

If Colts had best offer, it’s likely a deal would be done at this point. Wentz’s preference would be Indy, which would expedite agreement. Probable cause for delay.

If Colts’ interest is mild, then there is little he could do to prevent trade to Bears.

Making matters worse for Wentz was that Doug Pederson was fired following the season, which meant that a new coach could go with Hurts over Wentz as a fresh start.

Right now, it’s a two horse race in trading for Wentz. The Colts and the Bears are the frontrunners to make something happen.

Reports came out a few days ago that the Colts offered two 2nd round picks and a future 3rd round pick for Wentz. This seemed to be the best offer until the Bears reportedly surpassed it.

Chicago has apparently pulled ahead of the Colts in what they’re offering for Carson Wentz. However, the Eagles QB doesn’t want to go to the Bears. Instead, he wants to play with the Colts.

There are a few reasons why Wentz prefers the Colts and that’s due to his familiarity with Frank Reich who’s the head coach of Indy and the former OC of the Eagle when Wentz had his best seasons.

Additionally, the team has a better overall roster than the Bears and is more stable with the coaching staff and front office. Chicago’s GM and head coach are playing for their jobs this season, which means the team could see an overhaul next offseason if they don’t do well in 2021.

Yet, the Eagles appear to be leaning towards Chicago in a potential trade despite what Wentz wants.

Philly wants something along the lines of what the Lions got for Stafford, but no team is going to offer multiple first round picks largely because the Eagles have no leverage in this trade. They can’t afford to keep Wentz on the roster after everything that’s happened and the salary cap issues.

Further working against the Eagles is that the team will have to pay Wentz a $10 million dollar roster bonus by March 20th.

The Philadelphia Eagles are a hot mess right now and the only way to start digging themselves out of this pit of despair is by trading Wentz and rebuilding the organization with Hurts as the franchise QB.

As for which team to wager on, I expect the Colts to up their offer to include a 1st round pick to get this deal done. I can’t see the team losing out on Wentz to the Bears.

Carson Wentz’s 2021 Team – Indianapolis Colts (+160)
