Payments technology company Nuvei has confirmed the appointment of two new independent directors: Maren Lau Regional VP, Latin America at Meta Platforms; and Tim Dent, former CFO and CCO of DraftKings

These two appointments have expanded Nuvei’s Board to eight members, while at the same time have brought the Board closer to achieving its gender diversity target of 30% female representation by the end of 2023.

Lau, in her role of Regional VP at Meta, helps brands leverage the company’s platforms while also preparing it for the much-discussed metaverse. Before this, she was a Founding Partner and CMO for IMS, where she built marketing strategies for technology companies all over Latin America.

Meanwhile, with over 20 years of online gaming experience, Tim Dent was CFO and CCO at sports betting giant DraftKings. He joined the company at its very early stages and oversaw the legal and legislative affairs departments, risk management, as well as payment functions.

Prior to that, Dent held several executive roles at Everest Gaming, where he contributed to the company’s revenue growth and market expansions, as well as to its transition from an unregulated to a regulated operating environment.

Nuvei’s Chair and CEO Philip Fayer, said: “Both Maren and Tim are proven leaders who bring extensive knowledge and experience that is beneficial to our business and highly relevant to our growing industry verticals and geographies. They are outstanding additions to our Board and we look forward to working with and learning from them.”
