Odds on Potential 2024 US Presidential Candidates

Everyone has an opinion one way or the other about ex-President Donald Trump. While Trump wasn’t the first person to make the foray from entertainment into politics, the 45th POTUS is easily the most memorable example.

Before running for the White House in 2015, Trump was known mostly for his real estate empire and starring in a popular reality TV show. Thanks to his stunning defeat of Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election and his subsequent tumultuous one-term stint in the Oval Office, he’ll go down in history for a variety of other reasons instead.

While Trump may have lost his own bid for re-election last fall, there is still a decent chance that we haven’t heard the last of him. Despite having been kicked off of most major social media platforms, Trump is still a major player in the world of national Republican politics. With no obvious 2024 candidate having emerged just yet, who’s to say Trump can’t rise right back to the top of the Republican ticket three years from now?

BetOnline.ag is offering you the chance to wager on whether Trump or a few other famous people decide to launch presidential campaigns in the next election cycle.

Could we see another celebrity president run for the White House in 2024?

These odds don’t reflect each person’s chances of winning, just whether or not they will actually make a formal run for president.

Donald Trump (+125)

Trump is still in denial that he actually lost the 2020 election, of course. While he has never (and will never) admit that defeat, he has hinted repeatedly that he may well decide to run again in 2024. Presidents are eligible to serve two terms apiece, but they don’t have to serve consecutively. To this point, Grover Cleveland is the only president in American history to have served a pair of non-consecutive terms.

While he has openly discussed the possibility, Trump hasn’t actually launched a 2024 campaign just yet. He still has his fingerprints all over the GOP, but there are a few things potentially standing in his way if he does decide to run again.

First off, Trump will be 75 in June, which means he’ll be 78 by the time Election Day 2024 rolls around. President Joe Biden is no spring chicken himself at the age of 78 right now, but Biden does seem to be in better physical condition than the overweight 45th president is.

Trump also has all sorts of potential legal issues coming down the pike, which could prevent him from making another run. He was recently sued by a number of lawmakers for his role in instigating the attack on the US Capitol back on January 6. He is also currently under investigation in both New York and Georgia for a variety of reasons. We’ll see whether charges actually come down in either state.

Frankly, the +125 odds on Trump running again in 2024 aren’t too appealing. You’re getting a little better than even-money here, and I do not think Trump launching another run is nearly as likely as the odds indicate. We may well see a Trump run in three years, but I do not think Big Don will be atop the ticket.

Ivanka Trump (+400)

Ivanka Trump played a big role in Trump’s White House as a senior adviser. The ex-president’s favorite daughter tried to stay out of the spotlight over the course of his four-year stint. She and her family have since moved to a private island near Miami after reportedly being shunned from a return to New York City.

Whether Ivanka decides to dive back into the world of politics remains to be seen. There was some speculation that she could try to primary Marco Rubio for his Florida Senate seat, but Ivanka has already announced that she has no plans to do so. She has also ruled out the idea of running for Governor of Florida, at least for now.

I don’t doubt the possibility that Ivanka pops up in politics at some point in the future, but a run for the White House in 2024 is looking increasingly unlikely.

Donald Trump Jr. (+400)

Donald Trump’s eldest son, Don Jr., has become a political brand of his own since his father’s ascent into the White House. Trump Jr. was a regular on the campaign trail, and he has made no shortage of TV appearances over the years in support of his dad’s political agenda.

Don Jr. is an executive in the Trump Organization, but he seems to be more of a figurehead than someone tasked with doing actual work in that capacity. While I do think there’s a 100 percent chance Don Jr. launches a bid for the presidency at some point in the future, I do not think it’ll happen in 2024.

Instead, Jr. seems to have his eye on a Congressional seat. There have been rumors about the possibility that Jr. could try to primary Liz Cheney in Wyoming after she was one of the few Republicans to vote in favor of impeaching Big Don. Jr. has also reportedly toyed with the idea of moving to Wyoming or Pennsylvania in order to run for a Senate seat in one of those states in the next election cycle.

Jr. will get into politics at some point, but he won’t run for president next time around.

Tucker Carlson (+500)

Cable news has become a mainstay in the world of American politics, for better or worse. Tucker Carlson has become one of the most popular faces on Fox News over the past few years. The 51-year-old was a fervent supporter of Trump’s during his administration, and there are many within the GOP that believe Carlson may have his eyes on a political future of his own.

Carlson has a big platform on Fox with a built-in legion of followers. Regardless of what you may think of him, he does have an effective way of communicating whatever message he wants to get out there. Those communication skills would presumably come in handy if he does decide to dive into politics in the future.

Carlson would essentially serve as a bridge for the Republican Party from the elder Trump to a newer generation of Trumpism. Carlson has remained mum on his political ambitions, but I certainly wouldn’t put a White House bid past him at this point.

It seems as though you have to be a firebrand in order to make a name for yourself in the modern GOP, and Tucker has certainly accomplished that already.

At +500, Carlson looks like a better bet at political betting sites than any Trump to run for president in 2024.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (+800)

While most celebrities laugh off the idea of running for president, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has done the opposite. The Rock has done just about everything over the course of his career, and his overall likeability has led many to wonder whether he’d make for a good politician someday.

One of his former WWE cohorts – The Undertaker – has gone on record in support of The Rock running for POTUS. Johnson has described himself as a moderate in the past without a firm party affiliation in either direction.

Johnson has said in the past that he thinks the divided country could use a healer and that he would run for president if he believed he was best suited to do the job. It remains to be seen whether a former wrestler would actually be able to gain much traction as a candidate, but this is the United States, after all. If a former reality TV guy can actually win a presidential election, why can’t a wrestler do the same?

The Rock feels like a bit of a long shot to take a stab at the White House in 2024, but stranger things have happened. You can do worse than a flier on Johnson here at the current +800 number.

Lara Trump (+1200)

Lara Trump, the wife of Big Don’s son, Eric, has been rumored as a potential 2022 Senate candidate. Lara hails from North Carolina. North Carolina Senator Richard Burr will not seek re-election next year, which means the GOP will need someone to run in his place.

I do think Lara is another Trump likely to make a political name for herself in the future, but a Senate run looks more likely than a presidential run in the near future.

Jeff Bezos (+1200)

Jeff Bezos is the world’s richest man with an estimated worth of nearly $200 billion. Bezos’ wealth will likely only grow in the years to come, and he is the odds-on favorite to become the world’s first trillionaire.

Some close to Bezos seem to think he has an interest. He may not formally announce his candidacy until later, but don’t be surprised if the billionaire launches some sort of tour in which he goes around the country trying to garner some support for whatever message he has. Bezos resigned from his lofty post at Amazon to focus on other interests. Why can’t politics be among them?

Take a shot on Bezos at +1200 to run for president in three years. Anything can happen, of course.

Mark Zuckerberg (+1800)

We saw ex-Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz launch a hilariously disastrous run for the White House ahead of the 2020 cycle. While Schultz never officially opened a campaign, he did do a “listening tour” of his own before literally getting heckled out of the race.

If Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg ever decides to do the same, I wouldn’t bet against Zuck enduring a similar fate. This guy just doesn’t have the charisma to become a popular political figure. We don’t elect politicians because of their looks, but we can’t in good conscience elect a POTUS that willingly goes outdoors with this haircut:

Roger Stone (+2000)

The Trump era introduced us to all sorts of wild cartoon-like people. Roger Stone, who can be best described as a “huckster,” certainly fits the bill. Stone was convicted of lying to Congress during the Trump-Russia investigation before being pardoned by Big Don before the end of his term.

Stone’s record is now washed of that conviction, so he’s free to seek national political office if he so chooses. There is nothing in the law that states a convicted felon can’t run for president in the first place, but most people see a criminal record as something that would doom one’s chances of gaining much support.

Stone may have gained a following of his own as a staunch Trump ally, but even he may be a bit too kooky for the modern-day Republican Party to stomach. We’ve seen some wild people win elections under the GOP banner over the past few years, but Stone doesn’t look like a likely candidate to actually run.

Michael Moore (+2000)

Filmmaker Michael Moore may be known for his politics more than his actual films. Moore frequently moonlights as a political pundit on various cable news shows, and most of his film career has involved politics and human interest stories.

Moore was a firm supporter of Bernie Sanders in each of the last two election cycles. He was one of the few liberals that actually predicted Trump’s victory in 2016, so he does have some political chops. Moore just seems like a more likely candidate to cheer from the sidelines than actually get into the game himself. The 66-year-old could potentially seek a Congressional or local post if he decides to leave the world of entertainment, but a run for president in 2024 isn’t likely.

Meghan Markle (+3300)

Meghan Markle made headlines with her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey last month in which she accused the royal family of racism. The American actress and her husband, Prince Harry, moved to North America last year, and a move back to the UK at any point in the near future looks rather dubious.

The interview led to some speculation as to Markle’s potential political ambitions, but it’s hard to imagine. The 39-year-old is a very influential figure in her current role, and she is about to give birth to the couple’s second child. While she and Harry have stepped back from their ceremonial duties as royals, it’s not like either of them is lacking things to do these days.

Despite the recent speculation, Meghan won’t run in ’24.

LeBron James (+3300)

LeBron James is a man of many talents, and he’ll star in the new version of “Space Jam” later this year. The Lakers’ superstar has not been shy about voicing his political opinions in the past.

As arguably the most popular athlete in the world, could James eventually try to run for president?

It’s possible. Once his basketball career is over, there’s no telling what LeBron will do. However, he’s still very much in the prime of his career. Despite the fact that he’ll turn 37 later this year, we have no reason to believe James’ basketball days will be coming to a close any time soon. He did just lead the Lakers to a title while winning Finals MVP last summer.

LeBron certainly won’t hang up his sneakers early just to run for president in 2024. He’ll still be playing by the time the next election rolls around, which makes him an easy fade at +3300.

Tom Hanks (+4000)

Tom Hanks is one of the most popular faces in Hollywood. Who doesn’t love Tom Hanks? Likeability goes a long way in the world of politics, and his high favorability has caused many to urge him to seek political office someday.

There was some speculation that the Democratic Party could seek someone like Hanks to run against Trump in 2020, but Hanks never gave the notion serious consideration. The actor has said in the past that he does not believe he has the requisite experience necessary to run for the highest office in the land. When asked about the possibility of doing so in 2020, Hanks said,

“Just because I’m an actor, I can give a good speech, I agree with that,” he said. “But the concept of actually voting for someone just because they can do that? Then Monty Hall could have been president of the United States! I get what he’s saying, I understand, but I don’t buy my participation.”

It would be fun, but it ain’t happening in 2024.

Oprah Winfrey (+5000)

Oprah Winfrey is one of the few people who seems to be just as popular as Tom Hanks. Oprah is yet another big name that has been linked with a run for the White House on numerous occasions over the years. As was the case with Hanks, Oprah gained some political momentum after an impassioned speech. Oprah went viral after her speech at the

However, she quickly scoffed at the idea of running for president. Oprah still has plenty on her plate as it is. I do think she could be worth a flier given the current +5000 odds, but she seems perfectly content with what she’s doing already.

Rosie O’Donnell (+5000)

Rosie O’Donnell’s rivalry with Big Don Trump is well-documented. Watching those two go toe-to-toe on the campaign trail would be a hilarious disaster. While it would make for some good headlines, I can’t imagine Rosie actually making a bid for the job.
