The regular Major League Baseball season is drawing to a close and with it, all eyes are now turning to the World Series. Here, we’ll take a look at the top 10 teams in the National League and assess their chances of winning the biggest prize in baseball according to MLB World Series betting sites.

Los Angeles Dodgers (+325)

The Dodgers have the best winning percentage out of every team in the MLB, so it’s no surprise to see that they’re the favourites to take the World Series crown. Dave Roberts’ team have been impressive all season, particularly on the road, and they should carry that form into the playoffs, as the odds suggest.

Chicago Cubs (+1600)

The Cubs haven’t done much since their infamous 2016 World Series win, just one year later than predicted in the popular ‘Back to the Future II’ movie, and it doesn’t look like they’re going to repeat that feat this season. They’ve had inconsistent patches throughout the regular season, so it’s difficult to say what Cubs team we’ll see in the playoffs.

Atlanta Braves (+1600)

Atlanta only have one World Series win to their name, winning the 1995 playoffs 4-2 against Cleveland Indians, and like the Cubs they’ve struggled to find consistency in the regular season.

That said, history has shown you can never really write off anyone in the playoffs and Freddie Freeman has a healthy batting average for the regular season.

He could be the one to fire the Braves to a historic triumph, if he is healthy look to bet on the Braves when betting on baseball this postseason.

San Diego Padres (+850)

The Padres secured their first playoff berth since 2006 with their win over Seattle and Jayce Tingler’s side are starting to come into good form at the right time heading into the end of the regular season. Manny Machado and Zach Davies will be key to the Padres’ chances of taking the World Series crown and there’s a reason they’re among the favourites.

Miami Marlins (+4000)

The Marlins haven’t featured in the playoff final since they were re-branded from the Florida Marlins, winning the 1997 and 2003 finals.

They’ve done relatively well in the National League this regular season, but there are plenty of teams who have better chances and the odds reflect that.

Nothing’s impossible, of course, but this really would be a win for the ages if Don Mattingly was able to mastermind a win for the Marlins.

Cincinnati Reds (+4000)

The Reds were many people’s idea of a dark horse before the season began, but they’ve struggled for consistency during the regular season. They have the quality to turn it around in the post season, with a solid starting rotation and good offense, so if you’re looking for a team that could cause an upset, Cincinnati could be the ones to back if they make the playoffs.

San Francisco Giants (+5000)

The Giants are the most successful franchise of the last decade, winning three World Series titles since 2010.

Although Gabe Kapler has gotten some good performances from his team in the regular season since taking over in November 2019, they’re not at the level of the side that the won 2014 championship under Bruce Bochy.

They’ll give the playoffs their best shot if they get there, but it’s unlikely they’ll be able to end the decade with a fourth title win.

Philadelphia Phillies (+5000)

After a very good end to August for the Phillies, they’ve had an inconsistent September. They’re still very much in the hunt for the playoffs and could cause an upset if they get there. The Phillies have a good pedigree in the MLB and took the 2008 World Series, before finishing runners-up the following year. They haven’t done much since, but write them off at your peril if they get into the playoffs.

St. Louis Cardinals (+5000)

St. Louis Cardinals are the second most successful franchise in MLB history, but haven’t featured in a World Series final since 2013, when they were beaten by Boston Red Sox. They have a good chance of making it into the playoffs, but there are a lot of stronger teams this season and it’s difficult to see them causing a major upset. Probably not worth siding with this year.

Milwaukee Brewers (+6000)

Milwaukee haven’t featured in the World Series final since 1982, and that didn’t end well for them as they lost out to St. Louis Cardinals.

Their last championship success was as far back as 1957 and it looks unlikely they’ll end that run this season.

If they make it into the playoffs, which doesn’t look like it will happen this season, they will likely find their opposition too good in the post season. They’re probably best watched and maybe backed if they make it the playoffs and somehow progress, but the odds at this moment reflect the chances of that happening.
