As reported by the Ohio Casino Control Commission, Ohio gambling venues have seen a slight uptick during October on the back of strong casino revenue. Casinos and racinos in the state netted $192.2 million last month, 1.8% more than in September. However, it was almost imperceptibly down from last year’s October at $192.8 million.

The state’s numbers are based on Ohio’s current 11 properties offering gaming. Year-to-date revenue totals indicate that casinos and racinos fell off slightly in October from September’s increase over the previous year.

Year-to-date, from January 2022 to this past month, total revenue for casinos and racinos was $1.956 billion, up when compared to the same period in 2021, when the properties saw a total of $1.934 billion.

Casinos continued to recover in October, posting $83.1 million in net revenue, representing a 2% increase compared to the previous month. Back in the same period last year, revenue was $81 million.

As reported by PlayOhio.com, with the exception of JACK Cleveland coming in $700,000 below September numbers, Ohio casinos held level or exceeded last month’s totals. The two Hollywood casinos saw the most movement. Hollywood Columbus, the state’s top earner, had the best month with a $1.5 million increase over last month; while Hollywood Toledo netted $1 million over last month.

JACK Cleveland saw $21.2 million in October 2022, slightly below September’s $21.9 million, and October’s 2021 $21.4 million. Hollywood Columbus raked in $23.7 million last month, above September’s $22.3 million and last year’s totals of $21.5 million.

Hard Rock Cincinnati reached $20 million in October, falling slightly short compared to September when it saw $20.1 million. However, it showed signs of recovery in contrast with 2021’s $19 million.

Hollywood Toledo won $18.1 million last month, above September’s total of $17.1 million, yet staying practically on level compared to October 2021, when it saw $18.7 million.

For the third month in a row, Ohio’s year-to-date casino revenue totals have netted 2.5% more revenue than 2021. From January to October, revenue for casinos was $842.75 million, compared to the same period in 2021 when they won $821.1 million.

After a few months of coming in just above last year’s totals, Ohio racinos have drawn even with 2021 revenues. However, October brought an uptick over the previous month, as most Ohio racinos outperformed September totals. The outliers were MGM Northfield Park, the state’s top earner, and JACK Thistledown.

MGM Northfield Park’s revenue for October was $23.3 million, slightly below September’s $23.7 million. Eldorado saw $19.3 million, above September’s $18.1 million. Miami Valley Gaming raked in $18.8 million last month, at level with September’s results. JACK Thistledown Racetrack saw $14.6 million last month, in an almost unperceptive drop compared to September’s $14.9 million.

Hollywood Mahoning Valley rose to a total of $14 million in October, compared to the previous month when it saw a total of $13 million. Hollywood Dayton, on the other hand, saw an even more similar result comparing October and September, as it raked in $12.4 million and $12 million, respectively. Belterra Park saw a total of $6.6 million both in October and September.

When it comes to year-to-date revenue totals, racinos saw even results compared to 2021. From January to October 2022, the properties accrued $1.113 billion.
