Penn National Gaming’s L’Auberge Lake Charles began operating sports betting in November in a temporary location that was replaced by the permanent Barstool Sportsbook which debuted this week.

Louisiana legalized online sports betting in November 2020. After months of delays, the Louisiana Gaming Control Board announced January 28, 2022 that licensed online operators such as Barstool and its direct competitors in the state could start taking wagers.

Hollywood Casino Toledo in Ohio has recently announced the expansion of its facility in anticipation of legal sports wagering in the state, set to launch this year. The Penn National-operated facility will include a Barstool Sportsbook for retail sports wagering.

Ohio Gov. Mike Dewine signed House Bill 29 into law in December, a move expected to help the state compete with neighboring states which have already legalized their markets, including Indiana and Michigan.
