PokerStars is launching poker, sports gaming and casino in Greece under a previously-acquired local license, parent company Flutter Entertainment announced on Friday. The PokerStars, PokerStars Sports and PokerStars Casino products are now available to players in the country under full license from the Hellenic Gaming Commission (HGC).

The Flutter subsidiary first received a local license in July last year. Now, “a range of PokerStars’ popular real and play money poker games and tournaments, casino titles, sports betting markets, and promotions is now available” to players at PokerStars.GR, according to a press release, as well as on desktop, tablet and mobile for iOS and Android.

“Launching PokerStars under a full local license in Greece follows months of hard work from teams across the business,” said Dan Taylor, CEO of Flutter International. “I’d like to thank them all for helping to make PokerStars’ range of safe and trusted products available to players in Greece and for contributing towards our ongoing strategy of growing our business in international regulated markets.”

The move further expands Flutter’s presence in Europe, following the acquisition of Italian online gaming operator Sisal for €1.9 billion ($2.1 billion) announced in December. The purchase is set to strengthen its Italian footing by establishing a market share of 20% in combination with Betfair and PokerStars.

And earlier this month, Flutter announced its PokerStars subsidiary would be teaming up with Formula One racing team Red Bull Racing for a new global partnership. The exclusive deal will see the online gambling and entertainment brand join Red Bull Racing ahead of the 2022 Formula One season.

The multi-year partnership, which features branding on the RB18 and race suits, is aimed at F1’s growing audience, as increasing technological advancement helps to service and provide fans “with new and unique ways to enjoy the sport,” according to a press statement.

The relationship is also set to enable both Red Bull Racing and PokerStar “to reach audiences who share similar passions and interests” while rewarding and engaging existing fans and players in new and unique ways with F1-fuelled entertainment, the racing team explains.

Additionally, the deal is meant to provide fans with “epic experiences, promotions, competitions, and content.” Red Bull Racing states the partnership “will come to life” across PokerStars’ full offering of PokerStars Casino, PokerStars and PokerStars Sports products.
