Alternative investment fund SCCG Venture Fund announced on Monday one of the first gaming opportunity investments in Play Caller Sports, a Client Partner of consultancy SCCG Management, offering strategic support and business development.

The SCCG Venture Fund, managed by Stephen Crystal, David Hanlon, Pierre Cadena and Dave Antony, is an alternative investment fund that focuses on increasing value and distributing profit through investing in gaming opportunities, targeting the best opportunities for Seed / Series A funding.

According to a press release, the fund specializes in identifying “the most innovative companies and founders” that are involved in sports wagering, iGaming, esports gaming and wagering, sports data, affiliate solutions, and venue management.

The alternative investment fund focuses on increasing value and distributing profit through investing, with opportunities including equity, debt, direct asset ownership, and revenue sharing. It offers “the potential for higher than normal” returns for the risk tolerant investor.

PlayCaller Sports is planned as “an innovative fan engagement platform” that offers both fantasy sports and sports betting. It aims to reach the demographics of some of the most popular sports leagues, including the National Football League, the National Basketball League, and Major League Baseball.

The platform allows users to compete in micro-market competitions and tournaments live during their favorite pro sports games. Users can pick outcomes in real-time for individual plays, drives and possessions, for both teams and players. It allows both to set up private games with friends or play against the community.

A partnership between Play Caller and Crystal’s SCCG Management to support the platform’s launch with strategy and business development services was first announced in September last year. The consultancy firm said it would be introducing the gaming platform to its partners within the casino gaming industry.

“We are focused on aligning with the most innovative companies in the sports entertainment industry with broad applications to the casino gaming industry,” SCCG Management Founder and CEO Stephen Crystal said at the time. “Providing strategic guidance and business development support at the earliest stages of a company’s development allows us to have a significant impact on its success.”

Consultancy firm SCCG Management specializes in sports betting, iGaming, sports marketing, affiliate marketing, technology, intellectual property protection, product commercialization, esports, capital formation, M&A, joint ventures, casino management, and governmental and legal affairs for the casino and iGaming industry.

Founder Stephen Crystal represents, consults with and invests in gaming clients worldwide in various casino developments, internet gaming and gaming technology endeavors, both individually and through the firm. He has spent over 20 years directly involved in diverse aspects of the casino and iGaming industry, including as an attorney, investor, advisor, and as president and CEO of casino holding and public gaming companies.

“Play Caller Sports has a talented team that is focused on one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing areas of our industry,” he said last year. “We look forward to introducing their innovative platform to our many strategic partners and influencers.”
