Spain: online gaming generates EUR 197.17 M in Q3 2020

aming regulator DGOJ published its Third Quarter Report on the development of the online gaming market in the period between July and September 2020 in Spain. Gross Gaming Revenue was EUR 197.17 million, representing a 5.59 percent drop compared to the previous quarter and a 2.83 percent from the same quarter in 2019.

Marketing expenditure skyrocketed by 269.49 percent, as well as new accounts, which rose by 139.44 percent compared to the previous quarter.

The EUR 197.17 million of GGR were distributed as follows: EUR 85.23 M in the betting segment (43.22 %); EUR 3.89 M in bingo (1.97 %); EUR 83.89 M in casino (42.55 %), EUR 1.15 M in contests (0.58 %) and EUR 23.01 M in poker (11.67 %).

The betting segment rose by 25.06 percent compared to the previous quarter and fell 15.43 percent from the same quarter last year.

The bingo segment was down by 22.88 percent compared to the previous quarter and up 22.58 percent from the same quarter in 2019. the casino segment fell by 10.31 percent compared to the second quarter of 2020 and saw a year-on-year increase of 25.98 percent. The casino market share was slightly smaller than the betting segment.

Contests saw a 70.62 percent drop and a 58.38 percent increase year-on-year.

Poker was down 39.76 percent compared to the previous quarter and up 12.36 percent compared to the same period last year.
