With the NFL season about to start, fans and sports bettors are excited over the possibilities of what’s to come in 2020. However, when you look at the Super Bowl 55 betting odds, it’s pretty clear as to what the oddsmakers think will happen.

The Kanas City Chiefs are favored to win the Super Bowl for the second straight year, yet there are reports that a majority of bets are being placed on Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Along with those two teams are the Ravens, Saints and 49ers all projected to be championship contenders.

With that said, let’s huddle up to examine the latest SB 55 odds from the best Super Bowl betting sites, identify any value or possible longshots to wager on, and hopefully hoist the Lombardi Trophy with our winning prediction.

SB 55 Betting Favorites

The following teams are the odds on favorites to win Super Bowl 55:

Kansas City Chiefs (+600)

The Kansas City Chiefs are the defending Super Bowl champs having defeated the San Francisco 49ers by the score of 31 to 20. It was the second Super Bowl win in the franchise’s history with the first coming in 1969.

This year, the Chiefs return their full arsenal of weapons on offense along with a very wealthy Patrick Mahomes. Furthermore, they will have a cakewalk in the AFC West division as the other three teams will all be .500 or worse.

KC will lock up home field advantage throughout the Playoffs because of their division just like the Patriots did for so many years. From there, I don’t see the Chiefs having any real competition until they play the Ravens in the AFC Championship game.

Kansas City has the best player in the NFL with Patrick Mahomes and as long as he has warm bodies to throw to, the Chiefs will be the favorites to win the SB each year.

Baltimore Ravens (+650)

The Ravens finished with the best record in the NFL last year at 14-2. They had the top offense in the league and set records with their rushing attack. QB Lamar Jackson won the NFL MVP and this team was poised to make a Super Bowl run.

Unfortunately for the Ravens and their fans, Baltimore was upset in the Divisional Round of the Playoffs by the Tennessee Titans.

With the sting of a disappointing Playoff loss fueling Baltimore in 2020, I fully expect this team to be one of the best in the league as they try to capture the franchise’s 3rd Super Bowl championship and first since 2012.

They’ve added some pieces on defense that could boost the overall success for that side of the ball. Additionally, they brought in a few more weapons on offense to ensure that this team will be tough to slow down.

I believe the Ravens will end up in the AFC Championship game against KC, but I see the Chiefs winning that matchup at home in what should be an instant classic.

New Orleans Saints (+1000)

I’ve stated it a few times now, I think the Saints have one of the most complete rosters in the entire NFL. While all of the buzz has been about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and rightfully so with Brady there, I believe that fans and bettors are missing out on some opportunities by taking the Saints.

Not only do I believe that the Saints will win the NFC South division, but I also feel confident that they can edge out the 49ers for the NFC crown.

The Saints will have one of the best offenses in the NFL and they’ve added more depth to their defense which is expected to be tough. I believe this is New Orleans’ best chance at returning to the Super Bowl since 2009 when they beat the Colts for their first ever SB championship.

San Francisco 49ers (+1000)

As mentioned, the 49ers fell short in the Super Bowl last season as they lost to the Chiefs. San Francisco was on the verge of winning their 6th Super Bowl in franchise history and first since 1994. Yet, they gave up 21 points in the 4th quarter to the Chiefs and suffered a crushing defeat.

Despite the SB 54 loss, San Francisco is still one of the betting favorites to win Super Bowl 55. They’re tied with the Saints in odds for winning this year’s championship.

With that said, I give the edge to the Saints as I believe they have a better offense and have closed the gap on defense. I am picking New Orleans to win the NFC Championship this season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+1200)

The Buccaneers have become the trendy pick to win this year’s Super Bowl, which would be the team’s second championship in franchise history as they won the SB in 2002.

This trend is due to Tom Brady taking over as the QB for the Bucs and the additions of TE Rob Gronkowski, RB LeSean McCoy and RB Leonard Fournette.

These four players joined an already talented offense, which is projecting to be one of the best in 2020. Ironically, the NFL schedule makers didn’t waste any time throwing the Bucs into the fire as Tampa opens up the season against the New Orleans Saints.

I think it will take some time for Tampa to gel this year with all of the new faces. Nevertheless, I believe they will be one of the final four teams left in the NFC Playoffs. Unfortunately, I don’t think they have the defense to be able to defeat the 49ers or Saints with the NFC crown on the line.

SB LV Betting Value

The Seattle Seahawks (+1600) are flying under the radar in the NFC, yet they made several significant moves this offseason that not only makes them a threat to win the NFC West, but to also upset the chalk for the NFC Championship.

With the additions of TE Greg Olsen, WR Phillip Dorsett, and the re-signing of WR Josh Gordon, there’s chatter that QB Russell Wilson could be a legitimate contender for the NFL MVP this year.

However, it’s the moves they made on defense that could lead to Seattle becoming a threat to win the NFC. Not only did they add more pieces to their front seven, but they made some big trades that have revamped their secondary.

Seattle traded for Safety Jamal Adams and CB Quinton Dunbar that have many fans and pundits declaring that this is the second coming of the “Legion of Boom.”

At +1600 odds, the Seahawks offer the best value as they’re good enough to contend with the Saints, 49ers and Bucs this year. Seattle is aiming to win their first Super Bowl since the 2013 season.

Making Sense of These Odds

Despite being the odds on favorite to win the AFC East for the first time since the 1990’s, the Buffalo Bills (+2500) have lower odds of winning Super Bowl 55 than the New England Patriots (+2200) do.

What’s surprising is that the Patriots have had the most players opt out for covid and have lost too many playmakers on both sides of the ball to be a real threat at winning the AFC East, the AFC conference, or the Super Bowl.

I think this team is overhyped because of their past and due to Cam Newton being named the starting quarterback.

Buffalo has made several moves to bolster their roster including adding more pieces to their Top 3 defense and trading for a #1 receiver in Stefon Diggs. They have more talent on their roster than the Patriots do, but BetOnline believes that New England has a better shot at winning SB LV.

Although I think both teams will come up short in the AFC, I’m not even sure that the Patriots will make the Playoffs. Avoid any wagers on New England’s postseason success. If you are looking for a longshot, than put a small flier on the Bills.

Who Wins Super Bowl 55?

As you can see above, I believe it will be the Kansas City Chiefs taking on the New Orleans Saints in Super Bowl 55.

They will have two of the best offenses in the NFL this year and I expect their defenses to play well enough that each team should have at least a 12-4 record heading into the postseason.

The Chiefs have a clear path to capturing the AFC’s #1 seed and securing home field advantage throughout the Playoffs.

Andy Reid’s Gatorade bath was the ultimate wake-up call that he’d won the Super Bowl. 🙌

The Saints will be in a dogfight with the 49ers and Bucs all season long to secure the top seed. Even if they don’t get it, I still believe the Saints will take the NFC crown.

With that said, I like the Chiefs to win SB LV due to Patrick Mahomes and that high octane offense that can beat you through the air and on the ground.

Last year, the Chiefs proved that their offense was too powerful for even the 49ers top ranked defense. The Saints defense will flirt with a Top 10 ranking, but they won’t be able to slow down Mahomes and company at SB 55.
