Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is considered one of the best pound-for-pound boxers on the planet. For years, fans have been asking him to take on Billy Joe Saunders, a brash UK boxer with a perfect 30-0 record inside the ring. This week, the Canelo vs. Saunders fight was finally agreed upon.

This is one of the biggest middleweight bouts of all-time. Most feel Canelo will get the victory, yet no one can completely count Saunders out.

Let’s take a close look at this matchup!

Canelo Alvarez is Set to Fight Avni Yildrim on February 27

It has been incredible to watch Canelo Alvarez move through boxing’s rankings. Back in 2013, he took his first true high-profile bout against Floyd Mayweather at just 21 years old. That proved to be too much, too soon for the young boxer.

That loss lit a fire under Canelo. Over the next six years, he went undefeated and recorded wins over some of the best fighters of this generation. He’s now a multiple-time world champion with a total career record of 54-1-2.

On February 27, Canelo will be taking on Avni Yildrim in one of his biggest fights to date. This fight comes together due to Avni’s status as a mandatory challenger for Canelo’s WBC super middleweight title. It should be an intriguing matchup, yet all US sports betting sites listed Alvarez as the massive betting favorite.

Yildirim is a fighter that poses some trouble for Canelo. He is now 21-2 in his career and holds 12 knockout victories to his name. It would be a monumental upset, but he has what it takes to get a victory here.

This isn’t the fight fans are truly getting excited about. It now appears that the biggest fight for Canelo will instead be taking place sometime this May.

Canelo vs. Saunders is Now Expected to Take Place in May

There isn’t a lot that fans can criticize Saul Alvarez for. He works hard to take on the toughest challenges that come his way. He even moved into the light-heavyweight division and knocked out Sergey Kovalev!

There has been one name that hardcore fans continue to discuss, though. That is UK-born middleweight Billy Joe Saunders. Some believe that Billy has the perfect style to dethrone boxing’s pound-for-pound king.

There have been numerous issues getting into the way of this fight being booked. Fortunately, it seems that both parties have finally come to an agreement. If all goes well with the fight against Avni Yildirim next month, Canelo vs. Saunders will be taking place this May!

This is the fight everyone has wanted to see. Saunders is known for his defensive skills. That will come in handy against one of the hardest punchers to ever compete in the boxing ring. We’ll be sure to offer updates on the odds for this fight as soon as they come out.

There are several massive bouts scheduled to take place soon. Many of them will be fought at welterweight, the most competitive division in boxing right now.

Biggest Fights Scheduled to Take Place in February

2020 was a monumental year for combat sports. Many now feel that 2021 will be an even more successful year for fight promotions around the world. Boxing fans have several huge fights to look forward to over the next couple of months. BetOnline is offering odds on all the action!

Many of them are taking place in February. That includes the fight between Anthony Fowler (-1250) and Jorge Fortea (+700). Fowler is becoming a huge star in the UK and some feel he could end up challenging against the best super-middleweights on the planet.

Fans are also excited to see the heavyweight matchup between Joseph Parker (-1000) and Junior Fa (+700). These two heavyweights are desperate for a crack at one of the superstars in the division. The first step is a victory over the other on February 27.

It now seems that we will see the Canelo vs. Saunders fight this May. The lead-up to this fight alone will be incredible. Hopefully, nothing ends up getting in the way of this massive middleweight clash from coming together.
