The Denver Broncos Lead the NFL With Sports Betting Deals

As the start of the 2020 NFL season is here, the Denver Broncos are well ahead of the rest of the league when it comes to acquiring sports betting and gambling partnerships.

In fact, the team has managed to sign three different gambling sponsorships giving fans a wide selection of variety and betting options. Additionally, these landmark deals are with major companies like BetMGM and FanDuel.

Denver Is Leading the Pack by a Mile

In May, the NFL decided to allow sponsorship deals to be signed between teams and gambling sponsors. Denver didn’t waste any time as they quickly jumped at the opportunity and became the first team in the league to sign such a deal.

Experts have pointed to a number of factors that lead to this move such as the fact that the league lifted the ban on gambling partnerships and the state of Colorado had just gone ahead and made sports betting legal. It’s as though everything aligned at the perfect time for the Broncos to blaze this trail.

Each one of Denver’s three sports betting deals is unique not only to the partnership, but to the fans and sports bettors as well.

The Betfred USA Sports deal will involve a full sportsbook being launched at Saratoga Casino Black Hawk, while the partnership with BetMGM involves a stadium betting lounge at Empower Field plus a sports betting app.

Lastly, there’s the FanDuel Group deal which features a variety of signage within the stadium along with tailored made betting and fantasy sports opportunities for Broncos fans.

Although there will be sports betting and gambling advertisement in the stadium, none of the signs will show up on official broadcasts.

Additionally, fans will need to use a sports betting app to place bets as there won’t be a physical place for them to place a wager within the sports betting lounge. It’s more about creating an atmosphere and a vibe while helping to broaden advertising potential.

Expect Other Teams to Follow

With so many wide-reaching sponsorships and a clearly thought out plan, expect other NFL teams to take note of what the Broncos have done and to follow in their footsteps.

Mac Freeman, chief commercial officer for the Denver Broncos, commented on the team’s trailblazing:

“I think what you’ll find with us carving those first tracks through the field you’ll see other teams follow pretty quickly as states come on  board with sports gambling.”

Freeman went on to state that while they were looking at various sponsorships, the Broncos wanted to be sure that whatever they picked would offer “real value”, which he believes these three deals offer. It wasn’t simply a matter of landing sponsorship deals, rather it had to be deals that made sense.

As for whether the Broncos stand to benefit from any of the bets placed by their fans thanks to the deals, Freeman has said there will be no benefit to the team at all. He goes on to explain it is a classic sponsorship deal and doesn’t involve any sort of betting volume or revenue generated bonuses.
