The UK Gambling Commission announced Thursday it has decided to suspend the operating license of the iGaming website bet-at-home.com as it carries out a review under section 116 of the Gambling Act 2005. The suspension takes place immediately.
The review and consequent suspension follow concerns that activities may have not been in accordance with the conditions of their license and that the licensee may be unsuitable to carry on its activities within a legal framework. Suspected social responsibility and anti-money laundering failings were key considerations in the decision.
“We have made it clear to the operator that during the course of the suspension, we expect it to focus on treating consumers fairly and keeping them fully informed of any developments which impact them,” the UKGC stated.
The suspension does not prevent the operator from allowing consumers to access their accounts and withdrawing funds. Malta-based bet-at-home.com Internet Limited – which operates bet-at-home.com, bet-at-home.co.uk and uk.bet-at-home.com – can be contacted through its website.
Earlier this week, Bet-at-home suspended its GB Affiliate program. And in May, the business revealed its revenue dropped by more than 50% in Q1 of 2022, amid regulatory headwinds in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands. The company has yet to comment on the suspension.
