updated-2021-atp-australian-open-men’s-odds-heading-into-quarterfinals

With one week down, the men’s side of the 2021 Australian Open still has plenty of big names left in the tournament. Top stars like Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal remain on a collision course to play in the Finals.

Yet, there’s still plenty of hurdles between now and then that could derail one of tennis’ greatest feuds.

Tennis betting sites have released an updated list of Australian Open odds and prop bets for the Quarterfinals and beyond. Let’s take a closer look to see who we think will spike our wager and win the 2021 Australian Open.

Australian Open Betting Odds

The following Australian Open betting odds are to win the Grand Slam and courtesy of BetOnline:

  • Novak Djokovic (+165)
  • Daniil Medvedev (+300)
  • Rafael Nadal (+450)
  • Alexander Zverev (+700)
  • Stefanos Tsitsipas (+800 )
  • Andrey Rublev (+1200)
  • Grigor Dimitrov(+1400)
  • Aslan Karatsev (+6600)

Men’s Top Half of the Draw

The following players are still in the Top Half of the Men’s Draw:

Novak Djokovic

  • Win AO (+165)
  • Make AO Finals (-165)

The eight time Australian Open winner, and the top seed in the tournament, looks good heading into his Quarterfinal matchup against Alexander Zverev. He was my pretournament pick to win the 2021 Australian Open and things are shaping up nicely for the “Djoker.”

Djokovic ran into a small hurdle in the 3rd round against Fritz as he lost one set to the American. He also was challenged in the first couple of sets with Raonic in the 4th round before putting the Canadian away.

The top male player in the world is now set to take on the 6th seeded Zverev in what will be an exciting QF matchup.

Djokovic is 5-2 all-time against Zverev and has won three straight matches against him. They have never played against each other in the Australian Open before.

If Djokovic can get past Zverev, he will be looking at the winner of Dimitrov and Karatsev. Djokovic is 9-1 against Dimitrov and has never played Karatsev before.

Alexander Zverev

  • Win AO (+700)
  • Make AO Finals (+300)

Zverev has cruised into the Quarterfinals with smooth performances over the competition. His toughest foe was Lajovic who was ranked 23rd. Zverev has yet to face any tough opponent until now.

He’s going to have his hands full against Djokovic in the Quarterfinals. I just don’t see him being able to get past the “Djoker” to advance in the tournament. I would avoid Zverev’s odds!

Grigor Dimitrov

  • Win AO (+1400)
  • Make AO Finals (+450)

Dimitrov has pulled off the second biggest upset in the Men’s field so far. He defeated last year’s runner up Dominic Thiem, who was the 3rd seed, in three sets. It was a dominating performance that put Dimitrov in the QF against an unranked foe.

Dimitrov is a solid player and should be able to win his QF matchup and advanced to the Semifinals where he will lose to Djokovic. Novak is 9-1 against Dimitrov and has won seven straight against him.

Aslan Karatsev

  • Win AO (+6600)
  • Make AO Finals (+1600)

Karatsev is the biggest surprise in the men’s field as he was a qualifier who continues to pull off upset after upset.

In the 3rd round, he upset the 8th seeded Schwartzman in three sets. He then took down the 20th seeded Canadian Auger-Aliassime in five sets.

Now, he goes up against Dimitrov in an intriguing QF matchup. Karatsev is the biggest longshot to win the tournament and to make the Finals. This will be his first matchup against Dimitrov and you certainly can’t count the Russian out.

With that said, other than winning the matchup which would be another big upset, Karatsev has a mountain to climb that will be too difficult. Even if he can get into the Semifinals, Djokovic awaits.

Men’s Bottom Half of the Draw

Daniil Medvedev

  • Win AO (+300)
  • Make AO Finals (+140)

Medvedev has made it to the QFs as expected. He swept McDonald in the 4th round after going five sets against Krajinovic in the 3rd round.

The 4th seed will play the winner of Tsitsipas and Nadal in the Semifinals for a shot at making the Finals. Heading into the tournament, I thought that Medvedev had the luckiest portion of the Draw as he wouldn’t have to face a real threat until the Semifinals.

Medvedev is on pace to reach the SF as he’s 3-0 all-time against Rublev. He’s still a solid value play to make it to the Finals at +140 odds.

Rafael Nadal

  • Win AO (+450)
  • Make AO Finals (+220)

Prior to the beginning of the Australian Open, Nadal’s health was a big concern as he stated that he was dealing with injuries and wasn’t at 100%.

With that said, Nadal has crushed his opponents in the first four rounds and now faces Tsitsipas in the Quarterfinals. This will be the biggest test for Nadal in the tournament so far.

Wouldn’t have ended it any other way. 💥@RafaelNadal gets past Fabio Fognini in straight sets and is into his 13th @AustralianOpen quarterfinal.

I wouldn’t touch Nadal’s odds to win the Australian Open, but his +220 odds to make the Finals is appealing as it offers solid value with tennis betting sites.

He will need to get past Tsitsipas first and the 20 time Grand Slam winner is 7-1 against him all-time and 1-0 against him in the Australian Open.

Nadal is also 3-1 all-time against Medvedev. Right now, Nadal looks healthy enough to beat these young up and coming stars.

Stefanos Tsitsipas

  • Win AO (+800)
  • Make AO Finals (+350)

Tsitsipas has had the good fortune of an extra rest day as he didn’t even have to play a 4th round matchup due to his opponent Berrettini suffering from an injury and unable to compete.

Now, he will head into the Quarterfinals and take on Nadal who he’s 1-7 against. If he can get past Nadal then he will take on Medvedev who he’s 1-5 against.

The road looks hard for Tsitsipas to win the Bottom Half of the Draw. I would avoid him moving forward in the Australian Open.

Andrey Rublev

  • Win AO (+1200)
  • Make AO Finals (+500)

Rublev has had a nice run making the Quarterfinals, but that’s where his tournament will come to an end. He’s 0-3 against Medvedev and has never made it this far before.

I believe he’s in over his head against Medvedev and won’t be able to pull off the upset. If somehow he does, then there’s no way he gets past Nadal.

2021 Men’s Australian Open Winner

You really have to like how things are shaping up for Djokovic. Not only has he looked like he’s getting better in each round, but his toughest competition in the Top Half of the Draw (Thiem) has already been eliminated.

Djokovic will not lose more than one set in these next two rounds before waiting in the Finals for his opponent.

The Bottom Half of the Draw will still be a dog fight to get to the Finals. Medvedev will advance to the Semifinals where he will most likely meet Nadal who has the advantage in their head to head record. If Nadal is healthy, he will get into the Finals (+220). But, at what cost?

As I said in my tournament betting preview, the Top Half would win this tournament because it was the easier Draw. With only eight men left, it’s even more evident that the Top Half will win.

Novak Djokovic became just the second man in history to reach 300 grand slam wins with victory over Milos Raonic in the fourth round of the Australian Open. https://t.co/fbGgfCen6Y

As for the 2021 Australian Open winner, my original pick was Djokovic and I am sticking with him. Nothing in the first four rounds of this tournament has given me any doubt. In fact, with Thiem out, I’m even more confident in Djokovic winning his 9th Australian Open.

2021 Men’s Australian Open Winner –Djokovic Wins (+165)

Djokovic makes Finals (-165)

Top Half wins the AO (-115)

Nadal makes the Finals (+220)
