After an exciting round of Conference Championship games, the Super Bowl 55 matchup is set as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will take on the Kansas City Chiefs in what should be a thrilling matchup.

The game will be held in Tampa’s home stadium, marking the first time that an NFL team will play in their home stadium for the Super Bowl.

This is Tom Brady’s 10th Super Bowl appearance and it’s also the second straight Super Bowl appearance for the Kansas City Chiefs who defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 54.

Super Bowl betting sites have already begun their massive coverage of SB LV by releasing their opening SB 55 betting odds. Let’s huddle up to examine these odds and see if there’s any value to an early wager.

2021 Super Bowl Betting Odds

Let’s break down the early lines for each major type of NFL wager:

Chiefs Favored by a FG

The Chiefs are currently listed as a three point favorite over the Bucs with the majority of NFL betting sites.

However, if you shop around, you could get a line more suitable to your interests. For example, BetOnline and MyBookie have the Chiefs favored by 3 points, but Bovada has the Chiefs favored by 3.5 points.

This half point is significant considering the Chiefs beat Tampa Bay during the regular season by the score of 27 to 24. KC got out to a big lead, but the Bucs battled their way back to lose only by a field goal.

If you think the Bucs will win, or cover a FG spread, then take Tampa Bay at +3.5. However, if you think the Chiefs will win then go with the -3 point spread.

Early SB 55 Moneylines

The Kansas City Chiefs are a sizable favorite with the moneyline as well. They opened up as a -165 to -170 betting favorite. Sites like BetOnline and Bovada had KC on the low end whereas MyBookie and others had the Chiefs on the higher end.

The Buccaneers are listed as a +140 to +145 underdog depending on which site you are looking at. If you think the Bucs will win then hop on the larger payout. If you think the Chiefs will win then take the smaller moneyline.

Over/Under Set at 56 points

The Over/Under opened at a range of 56 to 56.5 total points. This line is rather appealing considering the amount of points each team scored during the regular season and during the Playoffs.

The Chiefs put up 22 points and 38 points in their two Playoff games. Additionally, they averaged 29.3ppg during the regular season.

The Buccaneers surpassed 30 points in all three of their Playoff games and also surpassed that mark during the regular season.

This could end up being a high scoring Super Bowl. I fully expect the O/U to go up as we get closer to Super Bowl 55. Of all the opening SB LV lines, this is the one that would make sense to jump on now rather than waiting until the day of the big game.

Can KC Score 30 points or More?

As you can see above, the Chiefs averaged 30ppg during their two Playoff games. They would’ve score more points if Patrick Mahomes didn’t get hurt during the 3rd quarter of the Divisional Round game against the Cleveland Browns.

In the AFC Championship game, the Chiefs could’ve scored over 40 points, but took their foot off the gas late in the game when they were up by two touchdowns.

This is an explosive team that seemingly cruised through the regular season in order to get the top seed in the AFC and to get back to the Super Bowl. In the Playoffs, they look like a different animal.

Will the Bucs Score More Than 26 points?

The Bucs’ offense has been a powerhouse in the postseason by putting up over 30 points in all three of their Playoff games. Adding to that impressiveness is the fact that they accomplished that on the road for the entire postseason.

Now, they return to their home stadium for the biggest game of the year, which has to give them an edge in comfort and preparation.

With that said, it seems like this O/U for the Bucs score in the Super Bowl is slightly low. The Over 26.5 points at -110 odds appears to offer some early value. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this number go up as we get closer to SB LV.

Currently, of the major online betting sites, only BetOnline has point totals for each team.

Are There Any Super Bowl 55 Wagers to Bet on Now?

As you can see above, there are a few wagers to consider placing bets on with just under two weeks until the big day.

For those backing the Chiefs, take a look at buying a half point on their 3 point spread to get it under a field goal. The Chiefs beat the Bucs by three points on November 29th. Furthermore, a half point shouldn’t bump the juice up too much, while still being well below the moneyline.

For those backing the Bucs, go with the sports betting sites like MyBookie that offer Tampa Bay at +3.5 points or more. With two great teams going head to head, there’s a good chance this game could come down to a FG just like in their regular season matchup.

If you aren’t ready to commit to either team, then the point totals offer some intriguing possibilities.

The Over/Under is listed at 56 points and that seems a bit low considering both teams averaged over 30 points per game in the Playoffs. Combined, they also averaged nearly 60 points per game during the regular season.

The Chiefs at an O/U of 30 points (-120) could be a nice wager considering they just put up 38 points in the AFC championship game.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers also have an appealing O/U of 26.5 points (-125) as they scored over 30ppg in the regular season and the Playoffs. Furthermore, they scored 24 points during the regular season and I believe that this Brady-led Bucs offense is much better than they were over two months ago.
