Week 5’s Sunday Night Football game features the high powered Seattle Seahawks with the NFL MVP frontrunner Russell Wilson hosting the Minnesota Vikings.

The Vikings scored their first win of the season last weekend and are hoping it provides enough confidence and momentum to knock off the best team in the NFC. The Seahawks are looking to let Russ cook on Sunday night and stay undefeated. Kickoff inside CenturyLink Field is at 8:20PM ET.

Minnesota vs Seattle SNF Game Preview

These two NFC teams have played against each other 17 total times with the Seahawks holding a commanding lead as they’re 12-5 in the all-time series. Seattle has won six straight games in this head to head series and has defeated Minnesota in four straight home games.

  • The Minnesota Vikings (1-3) captured their first win of the season by defeating the Houston Texans. Unfortunately, they still haven’t improved their defense as they face one of the most explosive offenses this weekend. Can Minnesota slow down the high scoring Seahawks led by Russell Wilson?
  • The Seattle Seahawks (4-0) have not only proved that they’re at the top of the NFC pecking order, but they also have showed that they’re one of the best teams in the entire league. Wilson and company look unstoppable on offense and they’re poised for a big game this weekend vs the weak Vikings defense.

The Seahawks opened as the favorite with a spread of 9 to 9.5 points. Currently, they’re a 7 point favorite with most NFL betting sites. The Over/Under opened at 57.5 points, saw some slight movement, but has settled back down at the opening line with most online betting sites.

Free SNF Sports Bet and Game Prediction: Over 57.5 points (-110)

I have absolutely no doubt that the Seahawks will win this game. The only hesitation is whether or not they will cover the spread. Seattle beat Dallas by seven points and the Patriots by five points at home. They also beat the Dolphins by eight points last weekend on the road.

With that said, Minnesota is the type of team that could score garbage time points to force a push with the spread or possibly even cover it.

Instead, I feel more comfortable with the Over in this game because both teams can put up points. On the season, Seattle is scoring 35.5ppg while the Vikings score 26.5ppg. That’s a combined average of 62ppg.

Additionally, these teams give up 58.6ppg with the Vikings allowing 31.3ppg. Last year these two teams played and they combined to score 67 total points.

Seattle will do the heavy lifting in this matchup as they have one of the best offenses in the league. They’re led by Russell Wilson who is having a tremendous season and is on a historic pace. Wilson is averaging 321 passing ypg and 4 TDs per game.

Furthermore, wide receivers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett are on pace to both go over 1,000 receiving yards each. And, Seattle still has a strong rushing attack led by Chris Carson.

Minnesota allows roughly 300 passing ypg, 134.8 rushing ypg, and 434.5 total ypg. In other words, Seattle will be able to do whatever they want in this game.

Despite being 1-3 on the year, the Vikings offense has one of the top rushing attacks led by Dalvin Cook. They’re averaging 150.5 ypg on the ground. However, Seattle has showed that they’re one of the best run defenses as they allow just 75.8 ypg.

With that said, Minnesota’s passing attack will have plenty of opportunities for success on Sunday as Seattle has one of the worst secondaries in the league right now. This defense is allowing 408.5 passing ypg which bodes well for Vikings QB Kirk Cousins and his receivers like Thielen and Jefferson.

I absolutely expect a shootout in Seattle on Sunday with Seattle scoring at least 35 points. I also expect Minnesota to score enough garbage time points to push this game Over 57.5 total points.

The Over is 7-1 in the last eight head to head meetings in Seattle. Additionally, the Over is 6-3 in Minnesota’s last nine road games and 4-1 in Seattle’s last five overall games.

Russell Wilson will cook up this Vikings secondary with another 300 yard, 3 TD performance. I also expect Chris Carson to score at least one TD and to go over 100 combined yards from scrimmage. Cousins will put up some big numbers in a losing effort. Take the Over in this high scoring contest.
