Patriots vs Rams NFL Game Preview
These two teams have played against each other 14 times and it’s New England that leads the all-time series with a record of 9-5.
The last time that these two teams played against each other was in February 2019 for Super Bowl LIII. It was the Patriots that won 13 to 3 in the lowest scoring Super Bowl ever.
They also played against each other in Super Bowl XXXVI and it was the Patriots that won that game as well, by the score of 20 to 17 on a last second field goal.
- New England Patriots (6-6) is coming off a 45 to 0 thrashing of the LA Chargers and seemed to regain a lot of their confidence as a team. Now, they will face the tougher of the two Los Angeles football teams as they hope to extend their winning streak to three straight games.
- Los Angeles Rams (8-4) is coming off an impressive win over divisional rivals the Arizona Cardinals by the score of 38 to 28. Both sides of the ball played well and the Rams now find themselves at the top of the NFC West. Can the Rams stay on top or will they end up falling to the Patriots at home?

Free TNF Sports Bet and Game Prediction: Patriots +5
It makes me a little bit uneasy to go with the Patriots in this matchup, but I have a hard time seeing the Rams winning by more than five points in what should be a tough, physical game where both teams will want to run the ball and play solid defense.
On the season, the Rams are scoring 25.1ppg and giving up 20.3ppg. The Patriots are scoring 22.8ppg and giving up 21.3ppg. These averages are very close in points scored and points allowed.
When the Rams played against other physical teams like the Patriots, they went 2-2 with losses to the 49ers and the Dolphins. Furthermore, they only beat Tampa Bay and Seattle by one score.
First Look: Rams host Patriots on Thursday Night Football
— Los Angeles Rams (@RamsNFL) December 8, 2020
The Patriots have been playing in one score differences since Week 8, if you don’t include what happened in the Chargers game last weekend. Prior to that blowout win, New England was involved in five straight one score games.
The Rams average 124.2 ypg on the ground and New England allows 118.8 ypg. However, the Rams give up just 93.1ypg on the ground and the Patriots average nearly 151 rushing yards per game. Both teams will try to run the ball, we’ll see who has the most success.
The team that can establish the run will most likely win this game because it will also open up the passing game especially the play action pass.
I believe the Rams will win, but it will probably be by a FG. Look for the Patriots to play man against the Rams receivers and try to take away the run. They will force Rams QB Jared Goff to beat them. That’s a coin flip considering his inconsistencies as of late. He has 10 INTs and a handful of fumbles this year.
I see this being a low scoring game with the Rams holding off the Pats. The loss will pretty much eliminate New England from the Playoffs.
