What Is Mega Roulette?

what-is-mega-roulette?

Roulette comes in multiple variations, including the American, European, French, and mini versions. With that said, you have some options to choose from when it comes to playing roulette.

More importantly, Pragmatic Play is adding one more option to the mix. They’ve released an interesting live dealer game called Mega Roulette, which gives you the chance to essentially win jackpots with certain bets.

Mega Roulette could very well be a popular game thanks to its big win potential. If you’re interested in trying it out, then you can read more about how it works throughout this post.

Characteristics of Mega Roulette

For the most part, Mega Roulette plays just like any other roulette game. If you’ve played live dealer roulette before, then you shouldn’t have much trouble getting started with this version.

However, Mega Roulette does have some defining characteristics that set it apart from the rest. Here’s a look at the different traits behind this game.

Live Dealer Play

Live dealer roulette offers the best of both the online and land-based version. It takes place in a brick and mortar studio and is dealt by a real dealer.

It also provides a social element since you can chat with the croupier. If you like all of these aspects, then you should appreciate Mega Roulette. The latter happens in Pragmatic Play’s live casino studio.

European Wheel

Three different types of roulette wheels exist, including the American, European, and mini versions. Here are the characteristics of each variation:

  • American Wheel – 38 numbers with a zero and double-zero pocket; 94.74% RTP
  • European Wheel – 37 numbers with a zero pocket; 97.30% RTP
  • Mini Wheel – 13 numbers with a zero pocket and la partage; 96.15% RTP

You can see that European Roulette is definitely the most favorable of these games. It offers the highest RTP and, thus, provides the best chance to win.

Mega Roulette plays out on a European wheel. Therefore, you can look forward to 97.30% RTP whenever playing this game.

Mega Bets

Roulette has plenty of bets to choose from. However, the Mega version takes things a step further by including three additional wagers.

You can place Mega Chances, Mega Columns, and Mega Dozens bets. Although these wagers each work in special ways, they all give you an opportunity to win larger payouts.

Multipliers

Slot machines are typically the only casino games that offer the thrill of multipliers. But Mega Roulette also incorporates this exciting element into one of the most-classic table games.

It spreads five different multipliers across the wheel during each spin. These multipliers range from 50x to 500x and apply to single-number bets only.

As you may know, a single number already features a high payout. It pays 29x your stake in Mega Roulette.

However, you can boost payouts even further when winning with a multiplier. Here’s an example on how you could net a huge win through Mega Roulette:

  • You wager $10 on the number 17.
  • The ball lands in the 17 pocket.
  • The Pragmatic Play roulette host reveals that 17 features a 500x multiplier.
  • 29 x 500 = $14,500 payout

Unlimited Seating

One problem with playing roulette in land-based casinos is that the tables can get crowded. At this point, you won’t even be able to work through the crowd to place bets.

The same issue isn’t present in Mega Roulette, though, because unlimited seating is available. Regardless of whether there are two players or 200 players at the table, there’s always room for you somewhere so that you can start playing.

Pros of Mega Roulette

You can see that Mega Roulette has some interesting elements to it. Now, I’ll cover how these unique aspects translate to advantages when playing this game.

Huge Potential Wins

You might consider Mega Roulette to be the slot machine of roulette variations. Its multipliers can produce huge payouts.

The 500x multiplier is obviously the best of the bunch. As explained in an earlier example, it can lead to five-figure wins on a small bet.

Of course, you don’t necessarily have to get the biggest multiplier. The 50x or 100x multipliers can also help you win thousands of dollars.

Unique Bets

As mentioned before, roulette features plenty of wagers. However, you may grow tired of the same bets if you’ve been playing this game for a long time.

Mega Roulette offers some totally unique alternatives. Mega Dozens, Mega Columns, and Mega Dozens provide a breath of fresh air for this classic game. Each of these wagers offers a chance to win big money without involving multipliers.

Live Gaming Experience

Pragmatic Play probably could’ve had a hit on their hands just by making Mega Roulette a standard online variation. They’ve taken things further, though, by turning it into a live dealer game.

You’ll not enjoy multipliers and totally unique wagers, but you’ll also get to experience the live casino atmosphere. If you’re somebody who already likes live dealer roulette, then you’ll certainly have fun trying this game.

Cons of Mega Roulette

You can see that Mega Roulette has plenty of admirable qualities. But as you’ll notice below, it’s not entirely perfect. You should consider the following drawbacks before rushing to play this variation.

Highly Volatile

Single number bets are already risky enough to begin with. They only give you 36:1 odds of winning. This means that, on average, you’ll be waiting 37 spins before finally booking a win.

The problem, though, is that you have to make single-number bets to enjoy multipliers. What’s more is that you’ll see lower single-number payouts when you do win.

Mega Roulette single-number bets all pay 29:1 to make up for the multipliers. This means that you’re receiving 20% less on your payouts, which only further increases the volatility. You’ll need to eventually benefit from some of the multipliers to make up for the lower regular payouts.

The Biggest Multipliers Are Unlikely

Continuing off the point above, you won’t benefit from the 50x multipliers—let alone 500x—on your winning numbers very often. Mega Roulette is more for those who like chasing long odds and huge payouts.

If you’re willing to wait, then you might get lucky and benefit big time from a multiplier. Assuming you’re somebody with a small bankroll who wants to last a while, though, then you might not enjoy waiting around for the big payoff.

Mega Bets Offer Lower RTP

The great thing about the three Mega Bets is that they allow you to enjoy this game in a new light. You can shake up your roulette experience with these wagers.

Unfortunately, each one of the Mega bets only offers 96.5% RTP. This payback is more in line with Mini Roulette than that it is European Roulette.

If you’re concerned with long-term winnings, then you’re better off placing standard European Roulette wagers and/or the Mega version’s straight-up bets. While the latter only pay 29:1 compared to 36:1 normally, the multipliers help make up for the low payouts.

Only Available in Certain Countries

Pragmatic Play is currently only offering Mega Roulette in Argentina, Paraguay, and Venezuela. If you don’t live in or aren’t visiting one of these countries, then you won’t be able to enjoy this game.

Of course, Pragmatic Play provides online casino games around the globe. They may very well roll out Mega Roulette in more countries. For now, though, the Mega game is only offered to select Latin American nations.

Is Mega Roulette Worth Trying?

Roulette has been available in casinos for well over 200 years. While it has seen some wheel modifications, it’s mostly the same game as it was two centuries ago.

Mega Roulette is a new spin on this classic casino game. It feels like a combination of live dealer roulette and a slot machine.

The latter feeling comes from how big multipliers are available. This game can multiply your single-number wins by up to 500x. If you’re a roulette aficionado, then you may like the idea of essentially chasing jackpots on the side.

However, you also need to consider that the multipliers won’t help you very often. Most of your single-number wins will be without multipliers attached.

Additionally, you’ll only receive 29:1 payouts. This is considerably less than what roulette normally offers for single-number wins.

Even if you don’t mind the drawbacks, you may have no chance to play Mega Roulette. After all, it’s only available in a few countries right now.

Personally, I think that this game is worthwhile if you have access to it. But the limited availability right now could stop you from giving it a try.

Conclusion

Mega Roulette isn’t the first unique roulette variation. However, it’s definitely one of the most innovative to date.

This game throws multipliers on top of single numbers. If you’re lucky enough, you’ll be hauling in winnings worth 29:1 plus a multiplier ranging from 50x to 500x.

The Mega Chance, Columns, and Dozens wagers also set this variant apart. They provide additional chances to collect big prizes.

The biggest downside, though, is that Mega Roulette is only offered in three Latin American countries. If this changes, though, then you should try it once or twice.
