The West Virginia Legislature concluded its 2022 session Saturday, with lawmakers not taking action on the satellite casino bill, passed March 1 by the Senate. Singapore Parliament passed Friday in second and final reading the Gambling Control Bill, which legalizes social gambling, as it criminalizes underage and proxy gambling, seeking to protect the vulnerable through prohibition as a part of tighter safeguards. Gaming developer and manager Red Rock Resorts held on Friday a private ceremonial groundbreaking for the $750 million Durango Casino & Resort in Las Vegas. Following a record-breaking 2021, U.S. commercial gaming revenue in January reached $4.43 billion, the industry’s fastest-ever start to a year, according to American Gaming Association’s (AGA) Commercial Gaming Revenue Tracker. The tracker features state-by-state and nationwide financial performance data with breakdowns for individual gaming verticals, and the latest edition released Tuesday includes comparisons to January 2020, as COVID-19 continued to impact the commercial gaming revenue market in January 2021. As reported by Maryland Lottery and Gaming Thursday, the state’s sports betting handle totaled $25.5 million in February, the second full month of operations for the state’s first five sportsbooks.  The financial results for last month show a decrease in handle of $7 million compared to January’s total of $32.5 million.
