New details about amendments to be introduced to Macau’s gaming law, currently in discussion at the SAR’s Legislative Assembly (AL), keep surfacing. U.S. bipartisan legislation was introduced Thursday by Congressional Gaming Caucus Co-Chairs Reps. Dina Titus (a Nevada Democrat) and Guy Reschenthaler (a Pennsylvania Republican) to raise the slot tax threshold to $5,000 and provide a mechanism for future increases based on inflation. UK online gaming giant Bet365 posted a profit before tax of £470 million ($621.5 million), up from £137 million in 2020, in the year to the end of March 2021. New Jersey violated the terms of a 2018 consent order between the state and Atlantic County by enacting its new casino PILOT law, according to Superior Court Judge Joseph Marczyk’s ruling last Friday. The controversial law gives tax relief to Atlantic City’s casinos by removing sports and online gaming revenues from the calculation of their payments in lieu of taxes.
