A Tallahassee judge agreed on Wednesday to conduct an emergency hearing to consider evidence that the Seminole Tribe of Florida may be attempting to sabotage a Las Vegas Sands-backed constitutional amendment asking voters to approve a gaming expansion. During the hearing, a petition for an emergency restraining order against Seminole-backed entities allegedly coercing signature gathering was denied. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s plan to lift the city’s ban on sports betting, and create a 2% tax on gross revenues from it, got stuck in a joint City Council committee Tuesday after unexpected opposition from aldermen including mayoral allies, during a committee hearing that ended abruptly without a final vote. Polish sports betting giant STS Holding SA is planning to use the $266 million raised in its Warsaw IPO towards a new investment arm. The company, the biggest in the sector in Poland at a 45.8% market share as of February 2021, plans to invest in Warsaw-listed stocks in a series of industries. DraftKings and NFL Players Association (NFLPA) have signed an agreement to launch gamified NFT (non-fungible token) collections on DraftKings Marketplace during the 2022-2023 NFL season. A Virginia judge issued a temporary injunction on Monday blocking the enforcement of a law that since July has banned a type of electronic betting machine, mostly referred to as “skill games”, that had proliferated in gas stations, bars and other small businesses around the state. California’s Fresno City Council authorized Club One Casino to add an additional 20 card rooms, bringing the total to 51, at its new Granite Park location in northeast Fresno. Macau’s gaming regulator has issued an instruction to junket operators to stop offering credit to their customers and requesting that chip purchases can only be done for upfront cash. The order from Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) would effectively bar all junkets from providing loan services to VIP gamblers.
