Merkur eSolutions and Bet3000 have agreed to a new cooperation, the parties announced this week. When sports betting in New York was passed with a 51% tax rate, we knew it would lead to problems. Now, both DraftKings and FanDuel New York are saying they could abandon the market if that tax rate isn’t lowered to something more realistic. The state of Arkansas set new sports gaming records during January. The state’s Department of Finance and Administration revealed an all-time high sports betting total handle of $33 million, a 6.6% increase over December’s numbers, which were the previous record. The Nevada Gaming Commission unanimously approved on Thursday a gaming license for London-based Entain, MGM Resorts International’s 50-50 partner in its BetMGM sports wagering brand.  The licensing included suitability and key employee licensure of several executives, including Entain CEO Jette Nygaard-Andersen, who appeared before commissioners and will become a member of BetMGM’s board, according to Las Vegas Review-Journal. Revenue in the three-month period amounted to €57.8 million ($60.9 million), up 66% from Q4 2021, including a €12.6 million termination fee from PENN Entertainment. At a Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, the Village of Garden City voted to formally oppose the development of a casino at the Nassau County Hub in Long Island, New York, which had been proposed by gaming and hospitality giant Las Vegas Sands.
